Skylar sat on the couch, the potions textbook laid across his lap as his hands held the tomb of a book up. It was literally cutting off the blood to his feet from the weight of it, but he really wasn't bothered to put the book on the table before him and hunch over, he was far too comfortable in his current position. Idly flicking a page Sky felt his brain begin to die slowly, the cells frizzling out one by one as he was literally being killed by boredom of reading about the 101 ways of cutting up newt eyes. Why was this even on his NEWTS, it was stupid, and the fact that the pun of newt and NEWTS was really doing nothing for his amusement. Damn professors making his life hell.
It was just past mid afternoon and Sky seemed to be one of the few students there. It was a cool day, and most people were down at Hogsmead for the weekend but the Hufflepuff had decided to stay so he could study. That however had turned out to be a stupid idea as studying was going to be the death of him. Why couldn't he just be intelligent like everyone else in his grade seemed to be? Skylar was no dunce, but he had to put in a lot of effort to even achieve marks that looked decent. Not that he really minded though, but Sky had no idea what he wanted to do once he graduated so it was better to keep up the marks to have a better chance of getting the job he wanted.
He sighed in frustration, dropping his head back onto the couch, his neck craned back as he stared up at the stone ceiling above. It was then that a familiar face came into view that he smiled widely. "Oh hey Chase, 'sup?"

Chase was not happy, nor had he been happy for a while. Well he was hardly ever actually happy, okay she he wasn't at his normal standard of happy. In fact he was incredibly shitty and angry. He snapped at anyone who tried to talk to him, except teachers of course, he put on a happy, polite mask for them. The slytherin house and quickly learnt to avoid him like this, they all gave him a wide berth. He was glad his house understood. However he was sick of the babbling idiots who sat in there now as he tried to study.
Instead of yelling at them like he wanted though he stomped out, carrying his books and making his way all the way to the fourth floor and finding his way to the study area. He knew that, deep down, a part of the reason was that he might see Imogen there but whenever the idea appeared in his thoughts he denied it to himself profusely, claiming to hate the head girl. When he walked in his eyes scanned the area quickly, they stopped on some idiot looked at the ceiling.
He walked over, knowing the idiot was his idiot and stood in his vision so he would know of his arrival. He hadn't seen Sky for a while, not since before Imogen, in fact not since Sky admitted he was bi. He dumped his stuff on the table in front of him and sat down.
"Nothing." He grumbled before opening his book.

Skylar knew of Chase's mood immediately, not only by the tone but the mere radiation of irritation which seemed to ooze from the male was easily noticeable as most of the other students in the near vicinity scrambled away in fear. Sky however was unaffected by the bad mood, continuing to smile happily as he always did.
"What's got your knickers in a knot mate," Sky said with a grin, holding up his hands in surrender. When Chase was in a bad mood, he was in a bad mood but Sky knew that he'd be safe from that wrath...hopefully. Chase knew that Sky was always there to talk, as he had been for him.
It had been quite some time since he had last seen Chase and his friend was looking awfully tired and stressed and a whole lot angrier than he had since they had parted ways at the tower that night. "So nothing hm...well that's awfully boring."

Chase was glad anyone close to him moved away. He wasn't in the mod for listening to young laughter or giggles or gossip. In fact he would probably have yelled at anyone who bothered him. He just started on his work, hoping that it might be hard enough to distract him. It wasn't. He hoped Sky would leave him alone but he didn't, he continued to comment. He sighed and gave Sky a bland look.
"Sorry my life isn't entertaining enough for you." He snapped before turning back to his work.
He sat their fuming. He knew he shouldn't of snapped at Sky but at the moment he was too angry to apologize. He continued to do his work until he realised it would probably be shit because of his mood. He let out a growl and threw his quill down and lent back in his chair. This whole situation was shit. He ran his hand through his messy hair before turning to Sky.
"Do you know a Noah?" He asked out of the blue.

Sky just raised his hands up to his head in a show of surrender, a universal gesture that he was backing off. "Woah Mister Cranky Pants, keep your hat on," Sky said, moving back from Sky. The Hufflepuff male knew from experience of their odd fights that when Chase was in a bad mood, it was best to keep at least an arms length away, avoids any sort of punches which might come his way for saying something which may or may not piss the Slytherin male off.
Sky just sat there, twiddling his thumbs. He'd sit there for years if it would help his friend, Chase was angry but Sky knew that he'd calm down eventually, he always did. Chase was a level-headed sort of guy, always seemingly to be in control of his life. He was the opposite of Sky in all aspects, but opposites attract as Sky liked to think.
Sky raised a brow at Chase's question. "Yeah I know Noah, he's a Hufflepuff, great guy," Sky said with a grin.

Chase stared at Sky as he waited for a response and when he got one he didn't know whether to laugh or yell. The guy Imogen was with was a huff? That was laughable but then Sky had to add he was a great guy. Great guy? He was a fucking idiot! Chase's fist clench and his face darkened. He was not a great guy, he was a pathetic nobody. He didn't like the fact Sky liked him but he regretted the words that came out of his mouth as soon as he said them.
"Great guy my ass! Do you have some sort of crush on him or something?"
Once he realised what he said his face went from dark to shock. He couldn't believe he said that. Would Sky be offended? He found it hard to believe he couldn't be with the tone he had used. He looked down and bit his lip He might not like that other guy but it had nothing to do with Sky.
"I didn't mean that Sky." He said quietly, hoping his best friend wouldn't hate him or leave or something.

Skylar was surprised to see anger reflected on Chase's face, why on earth would Chase be angry? Sure his mate wasn't exactly in a good mood right now but why did the mention of Noah bring the Slytherin male to he such an expression on his face.
To say that the words which left Chase hurt would be an understatement, they were like knives stabbing at his heart. Sky only felt sadness and betrayal. So that time in the tower had all been a lie, Chase did take Sky's change of preference to heart. "Well excuse me for having friends Wiggins," Sky said as he stood, gathering his papers within his arms, his face reflecting his hurt. He had put enough faith in Chase when he had told the male of his like for men as well as women, but the fact that his words held so much hate behind it had to make him wonder whether Chase now thought different of him.
Did Chase hate him now? Had it been a mistake to have even spoken in the first place. But whatever was going to happen Sky really didn't care in that moment, he wanted to leave, "you didn't mean it your ass Chase. I know you, you say what you like without caring about how it hurts others. I had trusted you, as my friend...but I guess I had been wrong to think I was different from all the other little people who you so believe are beneath you. You are the great Chase Wiggins after all."
Sky turned on his heel before he headed back to the entrance of the room, he felt like crying, and he was sure his eyes were already filled with tears, he was just trying to stop them from falling down his face.

Chase flinched when Sky called him by his last name. He was definitely hurt. He hung his head in shame, he shouldn't of let his anger get the better of him. He had never been so ashamed of something he had said before because he didn't mean it. He really didn't care about Sky being gay or bi or whatever. he was his best friend and that was all that mattered. The he stood and started packing his stuff and Chase's eyes widened in horror. He could see the pain in Sky's face and he was about to jump to apologise when Sky started speaking instead.
Then he knew he shouldn't but Chase felt anger and hurt spike within him at Sky's words. He knew he deserved it but then he felt his ashamed face turn slightly angry. Is that what he really thought of him? Is that what he thought of him> Chase knew he was an ass to people but he had reason for it! He thought Chase knew that! He hurt as he watched Sky scramble away and he quickly picked up his stuff. This was not over.
He stormed after Sky and met him in the empty corridor. He threw down his stuff before grabbing shoulder and spinning him around to face him. His face wore a hard expression. Deep down he was screaming at himself to stop and just apologise but he couldn't. Chase wasn't like that.
"Why did you ever bother being my friend if that's what you thought of my Sky? I thought you understood! I thought you were the one person I could be myself around but I guess not." He spat. "And I don't give a flying fuck about you liking guys! I would never lie to you." He said before taking a step back.
He had released all his team and sighed. He ran a hand through his mop of hair before looking at Sky with pleading eyes. He couldn't lose Sky. The boy meant more to him then he would like to admit. he was the only one ever to get through Chase's walls and stay behind them.
"I'm sorry Sky. I'm sorry I don't know what's wrong. I can't lose you. I think the problem is, well, I think, I think I maylikesomeone." He rushed out hoping Sky wouldn't catch the last of that sentence.

Sky left his best friend behind in the study area, moving into the fourth floor corridor as he carried the scrolls of parchment in his arms haphazardly, struggling to not drop them as it was. The Hufflepuff male felt utter loneliness in that moment, he truly had no one else. His best friend despised him for being gay and now he had walked away in his anger, he was sure Chase would never speak to him again. They had been friends for the past seven years of their schooling and that had been their first fight they had ever had.
Feeling himself being wrenched around those scrolls and papers flew about, the tears which had finally crept down his face being seen as he stared into the cold hard face of Chase. Hastily wiping at his eyes Skylar wrenched himself free of the Slytherin's grasp, he didn't want to have him so close, not when he knew that Chase was probably repulsed by him. Chase had been feigning the fact that he was okay with Skylar's bisexual realisation, so the other male probably thought that Sky was just a guy who was crushing on everything in sight. Chase had accused him of having a crush on Noah just because he was a friend, was that an indication of just how much Chase thought he was some wanton guy who now just thought every guy was hot on sight?
"Because I thought I was different from everyone else Chase!" Skylar yelled back through his tears, hating that he was hurting so much. He felt weak and he hated that, he didn't want to be like this before Chase, especially because it reflected just how much pain he was in. "You don't give a flying fuck?! Bull shit Chase, if you think I'm disgusting just tell me already! I can't fucking help it if I like men alright, I just do! It took so much courage and so much effort to tell you such a thing and then you just turn around and betray that trust that I put in you by thinking I'm fucking keen on any man just because I realised I was GAY!" Sky ended up yelling the last part, he didn't even care if there were people around to hear him, his emotions had taken over and his rationality was out the window.
Skylar looked away from Chase, he didn't want to see him right now as all he really wanted to do was go back to his dorms, crawl into bed and cry silently until he was absolutely spent. "You're blaming the fact that you get pissed at me, accuse me of the fact that because I realised I like dudes suddenly everyone is a target and then blame this all on my lack of friendship because you like someone?" Sky said, raising a brow as anger laced every word. "Don't give me fucking excuses Chase, you know I hate to be lied to. If you want to say you hate me then say it, don't blame it on the fact you're suddenly love struck on some chick."
Sky knew what he was saying was cruel, and he knew he didn't mean it at all. He didn't want Chase to hate him, that would break him, but it was still hurting him that his friend blamed this all on him, tried to apologise for his actions by saying he liked someone. That really was just too cruel of him.

Chase listened as Sky yelled at him and he was surprised that he didn't feel anger rise within him again. Instead he kept his head down and felt that horrible feeling brewing within his stomach. For once Chase knew he was in the wrong and was happy to admit it. He couldn't put up with losing Sky. He couldn't do it and he would happily have him yell at him and punch him if that meant he would forgive him. He looked up when he started accusing him of lying about caring that he was gay. Chase really didn't care at all.
"I don't care Sky. You have love or fuck whoever you want. Whether it is girl, guy or both. I really couldn't care less. I'm proud of you for admitting it." He said.
That was the truth. He really didn’t care. He also was proud. He knew it must be hard to admit something like that to yourself, let alone to anyone else. Then he looked away and Chase frowned even more. What was he meant to do? What else could he do? Then he started having a go about him lying that he liked someone. That was when he got hurt slightly. Did Sky really think it was that ridiculous that he liked someone? Was he really that bad? He felt his own eyes prick with tears for the first time in at least 10 years. He looked away and took a step back, feeling his insecurities all surface in that moment.
“You don’t think I can like someone? Am I really that horrible in your opinion? I never said I was love-struck.” He said before he realised this was going no-where. He had done it. He had gone and lost his best and only friend. For the first time in what seemed like forever a tear slid down his face. The Chase Wiggins, head boy and ultimate jerk was crying.
“I’m sorry Sky. I’m sorry.” He said before picking up his books and walking away. What else could he do? He was a horrible person.

Sky bite his tongue when Chase said that he was proud of him, it made him a little bit happy but then his anger still continued to boil though about the whole situation. Chase was his best friend, why did he say such a thing to him in the first place if it didn't mean anything? Somewhere deep down Chase would have to have something against it because he wouldn't have said anything in the first place, even if it had been out of anger.
"I never said that you can't like someone Chase, nor am I accusing you or being horrible, I'm just saying that it's not fair of you to suddenly blame your anger on the fact that there is a girl you like." Skylar didn't even know who the girl was, nor would he really have a clue. Chase had never been one to have girl's he liked, girls liked Chase and Skylar had always been more than aware of the activities his mate got up to at the Slytherin parties, gossip always did travel fast after all.
As Chase apologised again, Sky saw the lone tear which seemed to slip from the older boy's eye and Sky felt his heart clench in guilt for making his friend cry. Chase had never cried, not even in front of Skylar and there he was, walking away crying. Skylar had let his anger get the better of him and it had made his thoughts and actions irrational. He had ruined a seven year long friendship with his best mate all because he took the guy's words to heart. Skylar knew that wasn't fair, and as he stood there shocked it took him a moment to gather his thoughts before he began to run after his friend.
"Chase, wait! I'm sorry! I didn't mean anything, I'm sorry please don't hate me," Sky called out loudly, not even caring if they were causing a ruckus. As he caught up to Chase Sky dropped his books, not caring that the parchment scattered along the stone corridor, instead he just snatched out a hand to catch Chase to stop him from leaving. "I'm sorry, I was a dick about it and I was mad and I shouldn't have said what I had...I'm so sorry Chase, don't hate me." Skylar bit his lip, guilt coursing through him.

Chase walked away, glad the corridor was relatively empty. There were a few kids though he knew by the looks of them they weren't the type to risk gossiping about him. Not that he really cared. He had tears in his eyes but he was desperately blinking them away. He had wiped any that made it down to his cheek. He gripped his books tightly as he thought over what had just happened. He couldn't believe he'd said what he had to Sky. He was a complete and utter ass hole. He had already known that but he felt as if he had hurt his own sister or mother. That was how important Sky was to him and that was saying something.
That was when he heard Sky and his eyes widened. He stopped moving as he heard things being dropped and suddenly felt a hand on his arm. He turned as Sky started talking and his eyes widened. He thought he hated him? Was her serious? He was the one apologizing? He dropped his own books and threw his arms around Sky. Everyone knew Chase was best friends with Sky so that wasn't really shocking to the student body. He held him tightly before pulling back, holding his shoulders and looking at him.
"Hate you? Sky I don't thin that's possible for anyone. You're my best friend and if anyone should be apologizing it's me. I shouldn't of taken my anger out on you and I should not have said what I did. I love you and I ask you not to hate me." He said as he stared at his best friend.

Skylar had chased after his best friend in an attempt to get forgiveness. What he had said was out of line and it wasn't fair on him to put all the blame of their fight onto Chase, it was his fault as well for loosing his temper with him in the first place. Sky was touchy on the subject of his bisexuality, it was a big thing for him and it dictated a lot of his life now. He was still trying to gather the courage to come out to people, the only one who knew was Chase, and even then it had taken a lot out of him to even utter the words aloud.
As Chase hugged him tightly Sky wrapped his own arms around his fellow classmate, his fingers digging into the shirt of the taller boy. As he was pulled back and hands were on his shoulders Sky just listened as Chase spoke to him.
"I don't hate you Chase, I don't think I ever will, we've known each other since we were eleven years old and you've been my friend for the longest time," Skylar replied softly, "I'm so sorry about what I said...I feel so bad about getting mad...I never get mad at all it was just...I didn't think that it'd hurt me so much..."
