Scarlett was back at work, as much as Jesse Warrick told her to stay home she'd have none of it. This work was her life, and despite her...condition she wasn't about to give up the search of her father, not after she'd put in so much effort. She was going to have to find him soon before even the charms currently hiding the growing bump on her stomach wouldn't even hide her waddle, and that was hard to fake when her thin, frail back was practically about to break with all this added weight. There was no way anyone would be fooled by that, and she was sure if she were to go out fighting that far into the pregnancy Jesse might just strap her to the bed and leave her there till she popped out their baby.
It was so different, Scarlett was going to be a mother, and, for some reason that warped her already twisted sense of the world into a new light. There was so much more happiness and love which she could see, and when she let it, even feel it too. The love for the baby growing in her was unconditional, but her past traumas from her childhood and life still had her hesitant about human contact and emotional attachments with people. Even with Jesse, the man she shared her bed with she had trouble talking to him about her feelings since she had never in the past had to ever speak of them to anyone. Life was so different for the once cynical (and still so, just it wasn't so bad to the few people in her life), and Scarlett dared even say she had changed for the better.
Stepping into the office, her usual concealing charms hiding her stomach from view, showing the world her usual thin frame instead of her pregnant state she moved through to find Jacob McRae, the Auror that had been assigned to be her partner. He still didn't know, thankfully about the baby, Scar was sure if he did he'd refuse to train with her which would be something she'd hate to happen. She still liked to fight and work out, she just had a little more weight on her, and with the fact that Jesse was forcing her to eat three square meals to keep the nutrients up for the baby she had actually added a little fat to her bone thin frame.
"McRae, up, training room in five," Scarlett said in her usual cool tone as she spotted the male at his desk, turning on her heel and walking off to change herself into her snug fitting shirt and track pants, twirling her want between her fingers as she stood inside the warded room, ready for battle.

Scarlett was back. It was both good and bad. He was still doing paperwork but he felt more relaxed with her in the office. He didn't know why, he was just so use to having her around while he was at work. She was his partner after all. However she seemed worse now than she had been before. She had been off for maybe two weeks and it had been around 4 or 5 months since then and each passing day she seemed to be grumpy or have mood swings and he could never keep up. He was so confused as to what could possibly be causing them. He'd asked once and nearly had his head bitten off.
So for months he had put up with it, taking the main front of her verbal and physical attacks. Though she had also been nicer. It didn't make sense in his mind and he was use to it now but he knew others spoke about it. He had often snapped at them though he could never deny what they were saying was true. He still had a mountain of paperwork now and was trying to get through it as fast as possible. It seemed the lower down you were, the more boring the paperwork was. He sighed as he finished one page and was on to the next when Scarlett walked past his desk.
"Yes!" He exclaimed as he dropped his quill and stood instantly. Like hell he was doing paperwork for another 5 minutes.
He grabbed the bag by his desk and walked off to get changed, changing in to loose fitting shorts and a singlet. He knew he'd end up taking it off but that didn't matter. He grabbed a drink bottle from his bag and walked out to the training room with his wand in his other hand. He jumped the bottle by the wall and walked over, stretching his arms as he did so.
"Alright Lestrange, lets do this." He said with a grin.

Scarlett loved her work, even with her name and the effort it had taken for her to be put into the Auror program as the first girl in nearly ten years, the last being Nymphadora Tonks who had died in the Final Battle. Women in the Auror department was unheard of, as they usually had to be strong willed, skilled in complex magic and a smart thinker on their feet. Scarlett was all of these and more, and with her motivation and grudge against her father it only made her dedication to the department all the more intense. Everyone knew not to mess with her, and she was more than capable of kicking ass if she had to.
As she waited her hand moved to her hidden swollen stomach, only she being able to stroke the obvious bump beneath her shirt, letting a rare smile cross her lips. She was going to be a mother to a baby, she was going to have someone to live on after her... Scarlett wasn't sure if she would be able to survive this, but she damn well was going to do everything in her power to make sure her baby was born healthy and happy, and she had made Jesse promise that he was going to look after them. Scarlett was still worried that Warrick would abandoned them, sure didn't mind so much herself but if her baby was alone...
As Jacob McRae entered the room Scarlett shook herself from her thoughts, watching him walk over. She was sure he would grow to be a fine man one day, but at the moment she still thought he was far too weak to be out in battle, let alone up against Dark Wizards. "You sure you're ready for an ass kicking McRae?" Scarlett said with her usual smirk as she twirled her wand through her fingers, slipping into a fighting stance. She had to be careful though, she didn't want anything to happen to the baby so she had placed a few wards which would stop most blows and spells from hitting her around that area.
"Your move first," she instructed.

Jacob watched as Scarlett watched him walk in. He had to wonder what she thought of him. He could never be sure with her, she wasn't exactly open about feelings. In fact if he hadn't figured her out a while ago he would have thought she hated him. She was just closed off and didn't take shit. If you treated her with respect yet weren't completely submissive then you were fine. He stood the right distance from her and smirked at her words and her own smirk. She was good and she was better than him but he wasn't as bad as she seemed to think he was. Not with all the extra time he was putting in.
"Depends if you are." He countered before moving his feet to be in the right stance.
She said it was his turn to go first and he stood there, his eyes on her and his hand firmly wrapped around his wand as he thought how to start this. He hadn't these mock fights because he didn't want to hurt her and that meant there were certain spells he couldn't use. It also meant he couldn't really prove himself since this was a lot different than an actual fight. He muttered a spell and sent it flying at her before doing another and another before she even had the chance to send one his way. He kept going, hoping that as she tried to block them one would hit her.

McRae was her partner, and as young as he was she was going to mold him into the best auror possible, since her time spent with him was limited and slowly diminishing. With each day she grew bigger and each day was another step closer to her impending death. She didn't have long to live, that was inevitable. It was funny how things worked out, she was planning to die alone and forgotten, she had no goals in life other than killing her father and look at her now, with a man and a baby on the way. Scarlett wasn't exactly sure what Jesse and her were, but she knew (even if she didn't often say it) that she loved him, she really did.
With the young man before her shifting into his fighting stance she could only let a small smile, small but real cross her lips at his words. He was getting better at his, good. He needed to be strong, imposing if he wanted to be an auror otherwise no one would take him seriously. Scar soon realised that she was smiling though so she replaced it with a smirk, damn hormones making her go all motherly and proud. She hated that part of the pregnancy, that even the smallest thing brought up emotions which she had buried but the baby was making her feel again, Jesse was making her feel, and she felt alive.
As McRae started his onslaught of spells she just flicked her wrist, casting up shields between her and she just blocked his attacks, although as they kept coming her magic kept draining. Damn it, and she thought that being sick was bad, being pregnant was even worse when it came to magic, it made her feel so drained, and coming to work everyday with so many charms over her to conceal the pregnancy had her magical core fairly depleted. It seemed that maybe training was not so good in her state as she felt her breathing grow more ragged as she knew she'd soon have to fight on the offense.
Seeing a gap in between his casting, she sidestepped his spells, twirling to the side (as quickly as she could) as she began her onslaught of spells, this one more powerful, and a lot more dangerous than the last. Hitting one of the dummies behind Jacob it exploded on contact and it made her duck down behind one of the large boxes used as a spell casting target, her breathing ragged as she tried to stop herself from feeling tired. She could feel the charms around her diminishing already, she'd used too much magic, and added with the pregnancy she was just far too drained, both physically and magically. She needed to end this soon or she knew her charms would give way, and that was not a situation she would like to be in, especially in the training room with a young man with more than enough magical stamina.
