Jacob was bored. Scarlett had called in sick for the past few days and with the hectic mess that had become the Ministry after Kingsley's death, there was nothing for Jacob to do. Scarlett was his supervisor, the one in charge and there was no one else who was willing with the busy schedules. So he was doing the one thing he could do and that was paperwork. Jacob despised paperwork and as he sat at his desk he was mentally cursing Scarlett. She better be pretty fucking sick. He glared at the paper in front of him. He hated this shit.
So when he could finally have a break he stood and made his way to the training room. He didn't have a partner to train with but he could work out. That was what he did most of the time, worked out. So he got changed out of his good clothes and put on some shorts, not bothering with a shirt. Not because he wanted to show off, but because it was easier that way. There wasn't anyone in the gym anyway. He had a two hour break, well, that's what he'd given himself so he was going to go hard. Half an hour in to it he was covered in sweat and standing in the middle of the room, spraying his face with water. That was when the door opened.
He turned to see one of the few female aurors and nodded a greeting. He wasn't sure whether he looked good or disgusting but he didn't care. He took a long swig of his water before walking to his back to grab his towel.
"How's it going Cairenn?" He asked as he did so.

Cairenn was feeling pretty fried. Things at work were hectic, crazy and she was getting responsibility piled on her. Not that she was complaining; she relished this stuff. It was just the paperwork. Keeping up with the bloody paperwork was impossible! She was out in the field all day then she had to come back to the office and do a mountain of paperwork- stuff that she felt was completely unnecessary! She knew that she only got as much work and responsibility as she did- while so young!- because she was Zac’s prodigy.
She was damn good at what she did, and he knew it. She knew it too. She had worked her butt off for it. Trained a fuck tonne more than the others her age, did all the studying. She was top of her class. Best on the field. She was at the top of her game and with people working as hard as she was they were going to win the war. They really could. Cairenn had no doubt whatsoever that the light were going to win. She was a member of the genesis, for crying out loud! This was what she was living for.
The office was filled with chitchat, people sitting at their desks, not doing much. There were no senior members of the team about so people thought hat meant they got away with it. She didn’t like it. She wanted her desk cleared before the end of the night, like every night. She was dedicated, they had to give her that. The noise in the office was driving her up the wall. She stood up and made her way to the training room. She’d finish up her work when everyone else had gone home. She’d be more productive then, anyway. She changed into her training shorts and a sports bra, grabbed her boxing gloves from her locker and walked into the training room.
One of the newer aurors was in there, Jacob. He was still, what she considered, brand shiney new. Fresh out of Hogwarts- just like she had been when she started out. He also worked his ass off. It was something that Cairenn respected. So few people did. He acknowledged her as she entered. “Hey, yeah, not bad. People in the office are driving me nuts.” She held up her gloves and gave a shrew smile. “I’m here to let off some frustration. How’s your day been?”
