Layne couldn’t explain the excruciating pain coursing through his body. The curses, the bruises, everything hurt. It hurt to walk, it hurt to lay down, it hurt to even breathe. He didn’t understand why his father did what he did sometimes, what had Layne done? Jesus, all he wanted was a father. That was all he had ever wanted. This certainly wasn’t how a father was supposed to treat his son, his only son. He wished Ellie knew, as disgusted as he was by her relationship with Liam, she would do something. She would help him, she would stop this. He had somehow gotten himself up to the Owlery. His breathing was heavy and he quickly wiped away the blood dribbling down his chin. He must have looked like he just got his ass kicked, well, he had but no one was going to know why or by whom. Layne rested his head against the wall and closed his eyes, breathing in slowly. He needed to grab his wand and heal himself before he went back to the Common Room. Lucien would already be on the rampage for him not spending time with her and she would lose her shit if she saw him in this condition. With shaky hands, Layne rubbed the sore spots on his body, grunting in pain. Who would have thought that the High and Mighty Chambre would ever look as beaten and weak as he did? Layne would be damned if anyone found him. That was when he heard the footsteps. Damn. Who would be up here this late? Raven? He knew she usually came up to this spot. He refused to let her see him like this. Biting the inside of his cheek, Layne stood up and limped over to the window, struggling to hold himself up. As soon as the door opened, Layne’s knees gave out and he crashed to the floor with a thud, letting out a groan of pain as he squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened them, he swore to himself. Staring back at him was Teddy Lupin.

Teddy was in a good mood, having spent the day with Raven in Hogsmead had been fun, especially when they had snuck into the Shrieking Shack for the afternoon to tell ghost stories and eat the pumpkin pasties that they had bought from The Three Broomsticks. Being with Raven was always fun, they could chat for hours and still never run out of things to talk about, they just had too much to say. It was natural being with her, and Teddy was glad that he had finally gotten with her after all the drama with her brother -Layne Chambre- trying to wreck their friendship and ultimately, any possibility of a relationship.
Too bad for Chambre now though, Teddy thought, especially now that he was happy with Raven and there was nothing that the Slytherin could do to stop them. It was satisfying for Teddy to know that the younger male was helpless to do anything about he and Raven, probably since Teddy hated the Slytherin's guts. There had always been a bit of tenseness between the two, house rivalry and all and it had only been made worse once Teddy befriended Raven and, in turn had fallen for the young Ravenclaw.
Walking up to the owlrey, a reply to his godfather Harry's letter which he had received that morning in hand. Teddy took the steps two at a time, careful to not slip as he made his way up to the tall tower where his beloved birth Tonks rested. Entering into the tower though, rather to be greeted with the empty, poop filled room he was taken aback by the body slumped over by the wall, a body that he recognised well...
"Bloody hell, Chambre is that you!?" Teddy said in alarm, eying the wounds which littered the boys body. He knew that he should help the boy, he knew he had to, but it still had Teddy gritting his teeth as to who it was. Better judgement got him in the end, as he walked over slowly, holding out a hand. He knew he should help Layne, besides even if he didn't like to think of it but the boy before him was his girlfriend's brother, whether he wanted him to be or not. "As much as this pains me to say is but, need a hand?"

Out of anyone who could have found Layne, it had to be Teddy. Layne hated the older boy with a passion. He had kicked Lupin’s ass and enjoyed every minute of it. That was until Raven had handed him his own ass. He hated that she defended Teddy and not him. He was her brother, Lupin was nothing. He was going to leave her as soon as he got bored with her. He was going to hurt her and then Layne would have more reason to hate the other male. Layne laid on the ground unmoving, it hurt more to move than it hurt staying still. When he heard the gasp, he couldn’t help but grimace as he struggled to sit himself up. When he finally had himself in a position with his back against the stone wall, he glared at Teddy. Oh God. Even facial expressions hurt.
Then he asked if he needed a hand. Layne wiped the blood away from his mouth again and stared blankly at Teddy. Did he seriously have the balls to ask if he needed help? As if he was going to accept help from the guy in front of him. ”I…don’t need your…fucking help,” he hissed. ”I’m…fine…on my…own.” His voice was hoarse from his screams and he wished he would go away. Why would he be in the Owlerly? Was he meeting Raven here? Panic set into Layne’s head. ”You’re not meeting Raven here…are you?” He asked through his short breaths. If his twin sister was making her way up here, Layne needed to disappear.

Teddy had to curse whatever gods above had given him the luck to run into Layne Chambre on such a random occasion, who'd have thought the Slytherin would be hiding out in the Owlrey of all places... The Gryffindor knew that he'd have to offer his arch nemesis help, he wasn't a total cold hearted bastard as Chambre liked to think. Teddy was actually a nice guy, it was only a certain meddling twin brother who made him want to punch the lights out of someone, wasn't like he went about thinking that all the time. No, it was only Layne Chambre.
Teddy could only shrug as Layne declined his help, obviously that was going to happen, what else was he supposed to expect from Chambre? He looked in pretty bad shape and as much as Teddy would like to help him out, he wasn't about to force himself if the recipient wasn't willing. Hell, for all Teddy cared Layne could go jump off the tower, but then Raven would be devastated and Teddy would be left to deal with her broken heart and tears. As much as he hated Chambre, he was still someone important to Raven, and as much as Teddy disliked Layne for Raven he'd even try to be nice, for Raven's sake only.
"No, just here to deliver a letter, although if I was I doubt it'd be any of your business anyway," Teddy said, whistling as Tonks flew down from her perch, taking his offered letter in her beak, already knowing who it was for as she soared off. Teddy watched his companion fly away, staring off after her even as she had disappeared behind the clouds before he returned his attention to the other male.
Rolling his eyes at the sounds and pain which were etched into the boy's face, finally annoyed as he pulled out his wand, walking over. "I can't standby and watch you moan and groan with your misery any longer, it's a bloody pain to stand here, and as much as I hate your guts I know Raven would cry if you were to die. Now, I'm going to heal you whether you like it or not. We can do this my way, or the hard way. Which way will it be?"

Layne listened to Teddy and he narrowed his eyes, he shifted his body weight and groaned. If he could just cut off every single piece of him that hurt, well, Layne would be completely dismembered. Hopefully Lupin would just mail his letter and leave. ”I didn’t ask because I wanted to cause havoc. I asked because I don’t want her to see me…like this. Not that she’s forgiven me from our last encounter at the courtyard.” Layne panted out, he gripped the sides of his head to keep his head from exploding. Why couldn’t he just die already?
When he pulled out his wand and walked toward him, Layne glared. ”You’re not going to touch me. At all. Who cares about Raven’s feelings? If I’m dead you finally have me out of the way, don’t you? Just leave me alone. It’s going to happen again anyway, ‘s not even worth your time.” He hissed to the older boy before he realized the words that had left his mouth. ”Shit.” He growled, kicking himself. ”I’m sure my sister is up waiting for you. Why don’t you go check on her or something? I’m leaving.”
Layne pulled himself over to the ledge again and attempted to stand on his own two legs. He was very shaky and in a lot of pain, that much was obvious to anyone. His hands slowly rose from the ledge and he collapsed again to the floor with a thud. ”Motherfucker!” He seethed, making himself lay completely still once more. He closed his eyes and just laid there, willing himself to die.

"Only cause you deserve it, you were a dick to her, even for a kid who's supposed to be her twin, hell people would think you'd have a better head on your shoulders than insulting your sister like that before a whole crowd of people," Teddy commented, adding though just to take a stab at Layne, "you do know she get's even worse treatment from people now because of what you said, and how you treated her. I think it has something to do with the fact that people now see that the brother of the girl they always thought was being protected by said brother actually ended up being the abuser. So they take that chance and have a go at her."
Teddy could see the kid was in obvious pain, it was clearly written on his face and through his movements. Teddy was a pretty good reader of these sorts of things, and even if he did hate Layne Chambre Teddy was not so cold hearted as to leave him in his suffering like this. "It is well worth my time Chambre, and unlike you I'm not such a dick wad as to leave someone who is obviously in pain alone. I'm going to heal you whether you like it, so I can bind you or have you co-operate, either works for me, you just need to pick which one suits your fancy that's all."
Teddy watched with a raised brow at the pathetic attempt of escape by Chambre, as he just looked on in amusement for a moment before he walked over, pushing the kid back against the wall and before he could try and do anything Teddy was already mumbling healing spells, his wand pointed at the Slytherin's chest. "Don't be such a pussy and deal with the pain Chambre."

Layne scoffed when Teddy said he deserved what he got. He groaned as he shifted his weight although he froze at the Lupin boy's next words. People bullied Raven worse than before? Because of what he said? Suddenly Layne felt like bastard. He only made fun of Raven because that was siblings did, and he had an image to keep up. And most of the time she annoyed the fuck out of him because of how clingy she was at times. He swallowed the lump that had grown in his throat and shot Teddy a look that could have killed. "What kind of fucking boyfriend are you? Shouldn't you be protecting her? Holding her? Fighting back anyone who tries to hurt her? Isn't that in the job description? Fuck me, I knew you couldn't take care of her. I fucking knew it."
Layne spat out blood that had begun to pool in his mouth. "You got me riled up. I lost the filter in my head and it just came out. I lost her and its all your fault. It's all your fucking fault, Lupin. And you won't even be around for long once you finish with her."
Layne couldn't feel anything but pain after he had fallen to the ground. It was unbearable. He would have rather been under the Cruciatus curse than in this pain. His father had really dealt him in this time round. What did Ellie see in him? Why didn't she see what he did to Layne? Why didn't she make it stop? Why didn't she make the pain stop?
Teddy pointed his wand at Layne's chest and his eyes widened a bit. Was he going to just kick him while he was down? Consider it a long-awaited victory? Then, Layne felt soothing in his skin. His bones were no longer on fire and he could start to flex his fingers without any trace of the pain that had been so devastating a few moments ago. Teddy was healing him. Just like he said he would. "I'm not going to thank you, or make some sort of stupid truce with you if you think that's what you're going to accomplish with that."

Teddy snorted, "Oh I do that, I fucking hold her when she cries and sooth away her fears, but that doesn't ease the hurt she feels from being destroyed by the brother she 'loves'. Fat lot of good your love did for her Chambre. She literally had her heart ripped out and stomped on by your words. How would you feel if Raven were to say those same words back to you, hm? Your own sister, hating you." Teddy was pissed off that Chambre was acting as if he had no fucking clue as to what was happening to Raven, yet a small part of him saw the shock of it register across the Slytherin's face and he had to shake his head at that. He sometimes forgot that underneath the dick head nemesis he was still the brother of his girlfriend.
"Don't put the fucking blame on me Chambre, you lost her, in your anger. This is by no way my fault. Deal with your actions, suck it up and now you have to face the consequences." Teddy had no idea why he was reprimanding the kid here, up in the tower all alone. It was strange, even though he was swearing and his words were spat out harshly the words themselves were trying to get Chambre to pick up his game, not mope around and blame him for the shit he caused. Strange how quickly a situation can turn around.
Snorting again as Chambre spoke he knew that he wasn't going to get any thanks, it would be too out of character for Chambre to even say a nice word to him. "Of course you won't, you little twat. But nevertheless, I'll be able to go back to the dorms knowing I've done a good thing and I'll be able to sleep well knowing you didn't die up here in a pool of your own blood." He paused in his speaking though, focusing on making sure the wounds were healing properly before he continued, albeit timidly. He was treading on thin ground here with Chambre.
"A truce huh? I wouldn't go for saying 'truce', but you owe me now Chambre. And with this up on you, I want you to go and talk to Raven, instead of thanks of whatever the fuck you wouldn't do anyway. All I want you to do is talk to your sister, she's hurting and as much as I want to help her ease that pain I can't do that. I'm not family."
