Phoenix had been tracking a rouge vampire which had been slaughtering innocent muggles and wizards alike, having come down from the borders to feed. It was probably due to the appearance of a new Dark Lord that magical creatures were beginning to become cocky, thinking that because they were classified as 'Dark' by the Ministry they suddenly had free rule under the protection of the Dark Lord. Well they had another thing coming for them, Nix wasn't about to let that happen. It wasn't only his pride and job on the line, but also his saviour complex. Since he couldn't save Aubree all those years ago, Nix had developed the need to compulsively try and help anyone in need, and society was needing him to dispose of this creature prowling the streets at night, and he'd do it.
With a wooden stake coated in dead man's blood (courtesy of Mungos) tucked away in his jacket, an extra vial of the blood filled in a syringe just in case, and his long hunting knife used for beheading. Phoenix had hunted numerous vampires in his time, they were a rarity, especially this far into the city but it wasn't uncommon. At the rate things were going, Phoenix was going to be called in to do a lot of jobs, especially now that he seemingly was working with the Beast Division for the Ministry, which unfortunately meant he was working with Beckett as well.
His brother had yet to forgive him for everything that he had done, and Nix didn't blame him for it either. He hated himself for what happened, it was only logical that his brother and parent's despise him for it as well. Nix couldn't even remember a time when he's seen Beckett smile at him, or have his mother hug him without pulling away abruptly, or have his father not look at him with pitiful, sad eyes. Phoenix couldn't deal with it all, it was too much guilt for him to take on, but he accepted it anyway, his punishment for his sins.
Tracking down the vampire had been easy, the tracks had been pretty traceable since it was littered with dead bodies, and Nix had been following it all the way into Magical London. Surprisingly no one had kicked up a fuss yet, but vampires had that edge on others, the lure was a powerful tool they used to trick their prey so they'd never see the attack coming until there was a ten foot spray of blood flow from their now missing jugular. Seeing as the vamp went into Fly Away Phoenix, the young hunter knew he's have to stay on his toes and make sure the vampire didn't leave with anyone without him knowing. Moving into the bar, sitting at the far corner bathed in the shadowed lights Nix waited, always watching.

Linny was out doing what she always did, partying. She knew that it wasn’t proper for a pure blood girl. She knew that if her daddy found out he would probably beat her and have her under house arrest (despite being twenty two years old). It was all up to her, her life. She also knew that the dark side was having a second rising. She loved it. It was great, there was going to be someone to rid their world of the goodie goodies and allow magic to reach its full potential- it should have happened years ago.
Linny made her way to Fly Away Phoenix, her place of choice for the night. She wasn’t dressed like a pureblood lady, not at all. She was dressed like a girl who was out looking for a lay. Her dress was short and skimpy, her heels like sky scrapers and her eye liner so thick and smoky that it was clear she wasn’t an innocent little girl.
Linny was enjoying her night, drinking, dancing. There was this guy who kept looking at her, trying to dance with her. But Linny wasn’t interested, he looked creepy, darker than she was interested in. She was just up for a quick lay with a fun guy, this guy seemed intense and it worried her a little. She decided to leave early, she didn’t want to deal with being leered at. And if he followed her it gave her a chance to destroy the fucker.
She was walking to the apperation spot when he grabbed her. It was Linny’s automatic reaction to scream.

This was it, the vampire was on the move. Nix watched him from the shadows, their positions were very much reversed. The creature was now the one being hunter, and he was not going to survive the night with Phoenix Drayton, the most famous and successful hunter there was known in the wizarding world was on this vamps' trail, and he was not going to go easy. Nix did, and always will hate creatures, they were nothing but animals, literally. Beneath the mask of a face they wore was just a sick and twisted creature who wanted nothing more than blood and flesh. Phoenix was not going to let that happen tonight.
He watched in avid amusement as the creature seemingly tried and failed to get with one girl in particular who kept brushing the elderly vampire off, and it brought an amused smirk to his lips at the sight. The vampire seemed to get more and more agitated as the girl once again evaded his attempts to -flirt?- whatever vampires did. Lure, flirt, practically the same thing. That vampire though was far from smooth, instead he looked like a lanky awkward little tosser and he could see why the blonde was now walking out the club, obviously to get away from this man.
Nix stood and followed the vampire out of the club, hiding in shadows as he stayed a well distance away so he wouldn't be noticed. Taking a moment to take the blood coated wooden stake from his jacket, his dominant hand holding the long hunting knife in hand he stalked off after the creature. Hearing a scream though Nix rushed around the corner to see the vampire struggling with the girl who had brushed him off before.
"Hey assbutt!" Nix called to get the vampires attention and, thankful that the girl was slight and the vampire much taller than her he pulled back his hand and through the knife directly at the vamps head and, as the metal slid through bone and into brain matter Nix let a cocky smirk slid onto his plump lips. "You alright Miss?" the handsome man said to the girl, finally seeing her up close. Seeing as she was a little shaken up he held out the wooden stake to her, "do you want to do the honours?"

Linny was panicked, more so than she should have been, when it grabbed her. She didn’t know why all of her instincts had just disappeared. Sure, this had happened to her before- once before, that’s all. But she had been able to deal with it then. She had got him off of her, she had made sure he got his just deserts, and then she had moved on with her life. Why now, was she panicking?
The relief she felt when it was pulled off her was too much. Thank fuck her brother would follow her sometimes. Sure, this would mean she got a lecture on not being an idiot on nights out, but it also meant she wasn’t dead or scrambling to get away from this guy. She felt weak, and she didn’t like it. She never normally needed anybody’s help. She was surprised when she darted out of the things- because she knew it wasn’t human or wizard- arms and saw a man she didn’t know. It wasn’t a member of her family; a stranger had intervened, how unusual. He probably didn’t know who she was, else he’d have left her to die.
Linny was at his side, trying to regain her poise and composure. She was a member of the original family. She could do this. When the man offered her the stake she all but grabbed it out of his hand. “Gladly.” She said, with venom. She glared down at the, what she now knew was a vampire, beneath her. “This is for all the girls you’ve drained before you attempted to drain me. Enjoy being dust.” She drove the stake into his old decrepit heart. Then she turned to the man who had saved her. He was beautiful, almost as beautiful as she was, she pushed her hair back out of her face. She wasn’t in any mood to be her usual coy self. Normally she’d flirt with him, put on her whore face. Today she felt more like a frightened little girl. “Thank you, I don’t know what I’d have done without you.”

Nix was thoroughly amused by this girl who seemed to be so scared, yet she still boldly took the stake form his hands as he offered and all but slammed the blood coated stake into the man's chest, his body twitched once before the life left those dark crimson eyes once and for all. Nix walked over and placed a heavy boot against the now dead vampire's chest, leaning down to wrench his knife from the head, the spray of blood which came from it stained his jeans but he wasn't at all fazed, he'd had much worse get on his clothing before so a little blood meant little to him.
Wiping his knife clean on the man's shirt he kicked the man over to the side of the alley and took out his wand, and one quick incendio later the body was, as the girl had stated, nothing but a pile of dust which was soon swept away with the breeze that blew through the cool evening. Just like that the hunt was over and Phoenix Drayton would have one less creature to worry about, which was a relief for him since he despised every vile creature which walked the planet.
"All good, this is what I do so, you know saving the damsel in distress is just part of the job description," he joked lightly, sheathing his knife into the leather case that was on his belt. "You should be a bit more careful about the types of blokes you attract, dressed like that you're only asking for trouble," he added with a wink.

Linny was getting her shit together. She was quite proud of herself, she had just staked a vampire, it was going to be something she could brag to Alex about when she got home. Not that he’d be happy, he’d be pissed that he didn’t get to be the one who drove the stake through the dead bastards heart. They were a strange family that way. But Linny really had no problem with what she just did. Even if he hadn’t attacked her it would have been fun to stake him. But this way it got to be personal. She liked that.
The guy in front of her was gorgeous, from what she could gather he was a hunter. She wasn’t stupid, it wasn’t luck that saved her, this guy had been tracking the vampire for god knew how long. She thanked him, something she thought was very big of her. She was descended from the originals, the original witches and wizards. She was better than everyone else by default. She had been raised knowing that. So to be honest the boy should be on his knees being grateful she has said it…even if he had just helped her out.
Linny looked him up and down when he claimed her outfit was asking for trouble. Shy girl was gone. She put a hand on her hip. “Excuse me?” She asked, wanting to know if she had heard wrong. “Did I hear you correctly when you claimed that, because I rock my hot body with sexy clothes, I deserve to be attacked by vampires? That I ask for it?” She gave him the filthiest look she could muster. “You are the reason for rape culture in our society. I could walk around butt naked and I still wouldn’t be asking for it. I take back my thanks.” Linny turned on her heel and made her way to the apparition spot. What an ass

It wasn't often that Phoenix was able to get himself to save someone this beautiful...okay that was such a lie. Hell when he travelled, especially to smaller towns the just legal girls would throw themselves at him after he purged their town of vampires or banshees or ghouls, but he was always happy to save someone. He would never, ever wish the fate of Aubree on anyone else. It was a terrible and brutal way to die, and Phoenix was sure that souls of those victim to these vile creatures would never rest, it was a violent way to go.
Nix could see the girl staring and he just cocked a perfectly shaped brow, he knew he had the looks, blessed with the devilishly handsome face from his parents which he had to commend them for. He in turn took the moment to look her up pointedly from head to toe, his eyes roaming and he approved of what he saw. It was a sultry look she was going for it seemed and damn, did she do it well.
Nix's smirk soon turned to a look of irritation as the woman took his obvious compliment and flirting statement all the wrong way. What a absolute bitch? Who did she think she was, Fucking Queen Elizabeth herself? Did she think her own shit didn't stink or something? Nix immediately realised that looks really were deceiving (he would say he himself was a example of that too), this girl was just a bitch. "Are you fucking serious? I was obviously just making a comment that you look good and that trouble was a good thing, but obviously you being too dim witted to notice that took it the opposite way and you dare to talk to me like that bitch?"
Nix sneered. "Shouldn't have fucking saved your life, obviously since you think you're so much better than the rest of us, it would have done the world a whole lot more good for your blonde ass to have been found drained by that creature." He turned on his heel, walking away, pausing once to add. "And if you think that you can walk around butt naked then you're obviously the one who's calling for trouble, probably so desperate for Daddy's deprived attention you'd even take it from a vamp, how disgusting."
He continued to walk away, kicking himself for having rushed in to save her. God what a bitch. As much as Nix thought she deserved to die, his comments about leaving her to be killed weren't true. He was sure he'd save her even if he had known what she was like before she opened that stupid mouth of hers.

Linny couldn’t help but be indignant, it that had been some ridiculous attempt at a pick up line it failed. Badly, and she was sure he knew that now. She didn’t put up with anyone’s shit and now mister ‘I’m a bad ass demon catcher’ would know that. She had no bother putting him in his place. No one spoke to her like that. Hell, no one should talk to any woman like that. It was down right disrespectful.
So when he yelled after her Linny was shocked. How dare he talk to her after she dressed him down? Did he think that because he fought dark creatures he was better than her? That he deserved her respect. He had just lost any respect the girl had had for him. She had actually been willing to be nice to him. She had felt a little vulnerable then he used a line like that. No wonder she went crazy. What did he expect?
Linny spun around to face him again. “That was your attempt at a compliment?” She put a hand on her hip. “Clearly your mother taught you nothing. No one in polite society would speak to a lady in such a way.” She knew that wasn’t true, her brothers were the biggest womanisers around. But in their society no one with any kind of standing would attempt to pick her up like that. And that was all that mattered to Linny. “And believe me, I may be blonde, but I am far from dumb. Just because I took your comment to be offensive doesn’t make me stupid, it means I have at least some kind of integrity.” Again, this was a bit of a stretch, she had been out looking for a good lay, but for all this boy knew she was a good little virgin.
It was when he claimed that he shouldn’t have saved her life that her heckles really began to rise. Mostly because she knew that most people who knew her wouldn’t attempt to help at all. She was a bitch, she knew that. She was happy with that… it kept her a safe distance away from anyone who wanted her to be something she wasn’t. Or to be something more than she wanted to be. “I could have done just fine without your help! And if you had been doing your job properly in the first place that thing would never have gotten near to me and I wouldn’t have needed saving!”
Linny turned to leave again when he started talking again. Bringing up her father was a step too far. She knew that a lot of what she did was a plea for attention, for something that she was lacking in her life. She didn’t know what it was, but she knew that she somehow always managed to take it a step too far, even when she was trying to rein it in. She stormed towards this man and grabbed his arm. Her was burning red with anger, but she didn’t even notice. She was quite sure her eyes were black as well. She hadn’t been so angry that she lost control of her powers in a long time.
“I wanted nothing to do with that vampire. I think my walking away made that perfectly obvious. And don’t pretend that you know anything about me. Because, sweetheart, whatever your guess is, I’m sure you’re around fifty miles away from the truth.” She glared at him, her eyes tinted, telling her that her eyes were indeed black. She blinked once and turned them back to their blue. She didn’t have the control to make it back to blonde yet. She was livid.

"And no one in polite society would call a woman who dresses like that a lady," Phoenix snapped back, not at all amused by this bitch's attitude. "Surprised you ain't being treated like some slag working the street corner what with your ass practically hanging out of your dress." The young hunter felt like snorting as she said that she wasn't dumb, well right now she sure looked the part, trying to argue her point was not to attract attention when she was clearly looking for trouble, as he had stated.
No woman, dressed like that was going out for a casual drink without the thought of sex, there was just no possibility. "Integrity? Please, looking like that I'm surprised your Daddy even let you out of the house," he took another stab at her young age, not liking that she was acting as if she were better than him when she was clearly much younger. "I wouldn't doubt that your dressing like this was a stab for attention, I'd go so far as to call it a your own little call for sex, so don't even try to act so innocent when clearly you were having the time of your life grinding back there in the club." He sneered at the girl, his usual attitude back which came out around those he didn't like, he didn't have to play the gentleman card on this girl, not when she was such an absolute bitch.
"Really now?" Phoenix said with a roll of his bright hazel eyes, "would you like me to call another vamp around to test that theory? Cause I can have one around in oh, say, 10 minutes?" He said in a patronizing tone, looking down at the tiny girl with nothing but pity. She probably had some sort of Napoleon complex, or she was just a snobby little slut. Either or explained it all perfectly. "My job is to not compromise society to a vampire's presence, do you think if I had tried to strike him in such a crowded and small place like a club it would have gone well? It would be chaos, people would think it was another attack from the bloody Dark Lord and then I'd have lost his trail for good, and he'd have probably killed quite a few people too at that, so don't say I'm not doing my job. I've damn well been doing my job, that's saving the asses of ungrateful people like you." Nix hissed out, offended that she'd say he wasn't doing his job perfectly, Phoenix Drayton always did his job perfectly, there was never any mishaps, ever.
Nix wasn't surprised when his words brought anger to the girl who was gripping his arm, although he was a little shocked to see that her eyes were black as he shoved her back quickly up against the wall, the knife he had slipped into it's sheath only moments before already in his hand and up against her neck. "What the fuck creature are you?" he hissed out lowly, his eyes narrowed as he took in her form, he had to figure out what she was before he could attempt to kill her and dispose of the body, it would be simple enough he just needed to figure out what would work the best on her. "Fifty miles is probably about right, god why can I never meet a normal chick who isn't some bloody thirsty monster?"

Linny felt his words. She wasn’t sure why- but they hurt. She knew that what she did wasn’t all just about having fun and getting laid and drunk. She wanted someone to rein her in. Someday… not now. No this was what she wanted! He didn’t know anything about her. This man could shut the fuck up. Her mouth dropped open when he compared her to a low class prostitute. How dare he? She was a Fey! One of the original vampire family! Her powers were where his, lesser powers, stemmed from!
Linny blushed when the man mentioned that he was surprised that her father let her out of the house…had he seen her he wouldn’t have. He would have likely locked her in her room for a long while. He didn’t know about any of this. The way she liked it. She hated how much this man was able to hit the nail on the head about her. She didn’t know how he did it. But he did. She wasn’t that young though, this man…he didn’t look much older than she was and he was acting like she was some seventeen year old child out after curfew. She was a grown woman! “Oh, please. As though my father could control my life. I’m not some fresh out of Hogwarts child. I doubt you’re much older than I am. And how I conduct myself is none of your business. But that man did not touch me” She spat. “And if you were watching him properly, you would know that.” She was sneering at him. She was only getting more riled up and it wasn’t good for her. No one had had this kind of affect on her since she was a child.
He called her on her vampire bluff caused her to roll her eyes. “What kind of hunter are you, that you have vampires on speed dial?” She looked him up and down. “I’d say a bad one.” He had pushed her too far and her control was completely gone. But she hadn’t expected the reaction she got from him. She couldn’t do anything and he had her up against the wall with a sharp blade against her throat. She could feel it biting against her skin and beads of blood started to escape. She was afraid. She couldn’t help but be. Then he asked her what she was, she was confused.
She turned herself back to normal, quickly, and tried to hide her fear. “It is not what I am, but whom. I am Evangeline Dakota Fey. A descendant of the original witch. Now I suggest you let me go, before you get in way above your depth.” She spat at him. She was no demon. And he would be dead before he got anywhere if he killed her. She knew that. “Just because I have powers beyond yours, doesn’t make me a demon, you pathetic excuse for a hunter.”

Phoenix was glad to see that his words were affecting the girl, he wanted her to feel bloody sorry for what she said and how she reacted to him. He had only been trying to save her, but the blonde woman seemed to think she was just so much better than the rest of the world, which pissed Phoenix off since it was a quality that a lot of the monsters he fought and hunted had. It was like they thought that because they were better than everyone else they could do whatever they wanted, which wasn't true. To Nix, he'd kill anyone whether they were man, woman or child if they posed a threat to society. So this woman was no different in his mind to any other, yet she acted as though he should treat her in high regard. He felt like laughing at the absurdity of it.
Nix just snorted at her words and high and mighty attitude, "I was watching, and you were grinding up against some other man in there, doesn't really matter now who was it, just that you're acting like some prude when you obviously are just a slut looking for a good lay." Nix sneered back at this woman, he'd never met a more snobby, outright bitch in his life, and that was saying something since Nix had slept with practically every woman who frequented those nightclubs back before he had stopped being such a party hard goer.
"I'm a damn good hunter, and one word from me could bring hundreds of monsters around all wanting to kill me, and what a nice little present it would be from me to them if I offered up a young piece of human meat?" he said with a smirk, it was the truth. He had more death threats and monsters after him in revenge than he did on his actual hunting list. It was funny though, that there was like a monster society where they all had their own connections and friends, and Nix just killed them off one by one without a care, of course it would raise alarm in the monster world.
He could only laugh at her explanation, like he should give a fuck who she was descendant from. "Please what bull shit. Like I should give two fucks to who you're ancestor was, and it's not like anyone in this world cares about that. Hell, if you're one of those suck ass pure bloods then you're probably just a inbred bitch," he stated, not removing the knife from her neck. Phoenix had seen the fear, she was his prey right now and he was going to hold that out for as long as he could. At her stab at his profession yet again he pressed the knife harder, drawing blood. "Say it again bitch and I'll cut you up right here and call some wolves for a feed. I'll leave the bottom half intact though, they always love a good free fuck. See if anyone cares then about little miss descendant of some stupid old hag."
