It wasn't often that Zac got the day off, but today was a rare chance and with the nice weather that was permitting -suprisingly since it was going into the colder part of winter- he decided to take out his siblings for the day. Wrapping up Sye, Corrabelle and Brayden in scarves and jackets, tiny mittens on their hands as their feet had gumboots on they trudged out of the house where Zac had spent his entire childhood, the happy laughter of his baby brothers and sister bringing a smile to his lips. He laughed as he watched Corrabelle make snow angels in their front yard, Sye making tiny snowmen and Brayden just stumbling around like the toddler he was. Zac soon joined in with the fun and with the four of them all together they built a reasonable sized snow man, Zac having grabbed a carrot for the nose and some spare buttons from the sewing kit, their snowman was completed.
"Zac, I wanna go to see the ducks!" Sye said excitedly, as usual the five year old was as demanding as ever. "Sye I don't think they'll be any ducks down by the river today," Zac tried to explain, being reasonable. "NO! DUCKS!" Sye said with a pout as he stamped his foot for that added emphasis of a tantrum. Zac could only sigh, he knew he could never win. "Fine, but we're going to have to walk there so no complaining on the way back? I can't carry you all," Zac warned, although the smile on his face betrayed the love that he felt for his siblings. A twin chorus of cheers came from the older kids, while Brayden just poked at some snow at his feet.
Going back inside Zac got out the stroller, grabbing some snacks and juice boxes for the kids before he got himself a water bottle and his wallet. Locking up the house behind him and strapping Bray into the stroller, fixing the beanie on the toddlers head they set off for the Thames River. After a nice 30 minute stroll, they came to the boardwalk on the river and, after finding a bench he let Brayden out, placing the boy on the ground. "Now, who's hungry?" "Me, oh me!" Zac just chuckled, reminded of hungry baby chicks begging their mother for food.
Sitting the three down on the bench he gave them each a juice box and opened up the packet of crackers he had brought with him, setting it between them so they could just take what they wanted. He himself settled for the water bottle, looking out over the frosted water which was, of course, free of any ducks. Zac was too lost in the little moment to even notice anyone approaching.

Haley had always been the quiet girl, the week had been work over load. She wouldn't complain though, she loved her work as a healer. She went to the bar the night before, only drinking water...until that nice boy came up an chatted with her. He offered her a drink how she couldn't refuse, he was so nice. Though her brother, the amazing man he is, made her change her mind. She didn't understand, but she he had told her along with her friends, that bars and boys weren't the best place to meet up.
She took up his drink though, her friend who had come with her, took her home and the rest of the night was a blur. Haley decided though, on her break to hit a the quietest place she knew. Apperating to a safe muggle free place, she walked to the river from where she was. It was quiet for the most part, she liked that. Maybe it was strange she came here, on her own. Haley figured she must look quiet silly to other people, but she didn't mind.
Looking around the place, she had thought just to eat her lunch here, but as she came closer she saw children. And a man. Wait was that.. "Zach?"[\b]

Zac was sitting with his siblings having such a nice time, it was good to get out and to spend time with his family. He loved that he could get the kids out of the house, he knew they usually could only go between the daycare, the backyard and the house since there wasn't time for them to go outside much with their mum working, Zac busy at the Ministry and the twins both moved out. So, to take the kids out was a treat and they all seemed to be enjoying it immensely to Zac's relief.
"Oh hello Haley, long time no see," Zac said as he heard someone call his name, turning to face the woman. He hadn't seen her in quite a while so it was surprising to see the witch here of all places. It wasn't like many people, let alone magical folk came to this part of London, even if it was scenic there wasn't much else to see down by the Thames river.
"How have you been these days, still working hard at Mungos?" he asked, picking up Brayden from the seat so there could be room on the bench for Haley to sit down as well.

Haley looked at the child Zac moved, and smiled, “Yeah, I’m still at St. Mungos. But I don’t think I’m working as hard as you…” She looked the kids. Haley didn’t really have anyone to take care of, her brother was older than her, and well knew how to take care of himself. She loved him and looked up to him, and couldn’t see Andrew really needing help with anything that Haley could do. But that was Haley being the naive one that that she is.
Sitting on the bench next to her friend, she was curious about what going on with him. They had been good friends before and Haley getting so involved in her work just never made time to hang out with her friend, but looking around, he was pretty busy himself it seemed. “So how are you mister? Looks to me like you pleasant handful today.” Haley teased.
Not sure why she came to this spot, she just liked the calming of the river to get away from work for only a moment. Haley was there enough to get time off easily, it’s just she didn’t have the heart to ask for it. Why would she need the time away anyway? In Haley’s eyes, she would rather be at working help people get better than at home doing nothing. The ex-Hufflepuff was just unaware about how much of a doormat she could be, and she was easily paranoid about upsetting or hurting other people.
“If you ever get the spare moment, we should hang out sometime. Me and my friends go to this bar in London…” Haley wondered if Zac remembered how she was when she drank, maybe a bar wasn’t a good idea. But what else could two friends do? Haley got slightly embarrassed for asking, she didn’t want him to think that she was being mean about his siblings with the ‘spare moment’ comment. “I mean… you want. I didn’t mean anything mean by it.”

Zac was surprised to see Haley, he knew her from his visits to Mungos where his father was on her floor, his disease...well, cancer was something that had been around for years but even in this advanced age they still didn't have a cure for it. So, Zac just had to sit by his father's bedside while the old Elwood withered away. Thankfully it was a slow growing cancer in his lungs and the chemo had irradiated his immune system so even the slightest of colds could be fatal. It was hard on Zac, but even harder on the younger kids who still didn't quite grasp what was happening, all they could do was listen to their dad's raspy voice as he complimented their drawings which they always brought with them of their family; the walls of the hospital room was like a collage of his children's drawings and photos.
As Haley sat beside him Zac patted Brayden's hair, letting the child drink his popper as he chuckled. "They're quite the handful but thankfully they're being good today," Zac said as the kids continued on, oblivious to the 'adult talk' as they liked to call it. Plus, as friendly as the children were usually when presented with food they always picked the latter over pleasant introductions. "These are my siblings, Corrabelle, Sye and Brayden," Zac said as he indicated to each child respectively, "they'd usually be all over new people, they love the attention but you came at a bad time, I already gave them their food so they'll be preoccupied for a while."
Zac was surprised when Haley asked him out for drinks, they hadn't ever hung out in that way, it was always at work or just in passing. He smiled though, glad she was making some effort to be nice, "If I can find some spare time I'll remember to give you a call but at the moment I'm pretty between work, looking after these rascals and having to train up the new aurors, sorry. But I'll definitely make sure to give you a call if I do find a night off somewhere." He gave her a smile in reassurance, he really was glad she seemed to want to get together some time to just hang out.
