Erin had been invited to a party, and although this was the norm for her, it was a little bit more high brow than the others. That didn't mean she was going all out, she knew for a fact that her ex was going to be there and thought it would be better to avoid confrontation by looking like the personification of the phrase 'fuck off'. The only good thing she could think about tonight was the copious amounts of champagne, or in her case, vodka martinis, and the fact that she could bring a plus one.
Usually, Erin would be stumped by the prospect, the only friends she really had that she would consider taking to such a party were also models or actors, and would probably already be attending. She thought about inviting Jay, but decided against it, not willing to tear him away from his life to attend some superficial party just to please her, although she knew he would have come if she'd asked him to. Erin was the type of girl that liked to let her hair down at parties, and with Jay by her side, that would have been next to impossible, although her ex wouldn't have gotten a look in.
Erin sighed as she bunched her hair up into a rough updo, before deciding it was too prim and shaking it out again, letting her curls fall around her shoulders. She was actually waiting for a relatively new addition to her life who she had actually gotten quite close to lately. Jacob McRae, an auror, training, she figured, since he was her age. They had become good friends through the medium of him telling her when she was being a stuck up bitch, and her telling him when he was being anything but her idea of the perfect friend. It worked well, although a lot of Erin's comments were intended as jokes.
He was supposed to be meeting her here, and as she looked at the clock ticking away shamelessly on the wall; he was already late. And Erin was getting sick of walking around with her dress unzipped because she couldn't reach to zip it up herself. She tapped her nails impatiently on her dressing table, waiting had never been her strong suit.
She finally heard a tap on the door and stood up clutching her dress to her chest. Erin felt a little nervous at the thought of seeing her ex for the first time since the breakup, especially as it hadn't been very pretty, but at least she would have Jacob there for company and hopefully to punch him in the face if it came to that. She opened the door with one hand, just about managing to retain her dignity with the other.
"Hi," she said, before promptly turning her back on him, "Can you zip me up?"

Jacob was beat from spending a hard day doing physical training. He couldn't believe Scarlett and chosen today of all days to decided to stretch and push every muscle he had in his body. He had spent most of the day dripping in sweat and on the floor panting. It was probably his worst work out yet since he had had come quite far from the beginning, toning up immensely. Yet it still hurt him to move. He could have told her he had some function to go to that night but she probably would have pushed him harder.
By the time he got to his home he was sore, tired and wanted nothing more than to go to bed. Of course he couldn't do that. He showered as fast as he could before laying on his bed, the soft duvet like heaven against his tired muscles. Of course it was a bad idea though as when his eyes opened an hour had past and he was meant to be at Erin's house five minutes ago. He swore loudly, jumping up, at the complaints of his muscles. He rushed around, getting dressed into a suit and tie before rushing to the kitchen to find a potion to cool his aching.
Then he apparated as soon as he had everything he needed, arriving in record time and knocking on the door. He knew she wouldn't be happy with him but he could deal with her after having Scarlett yell at him all day. He gave her a grin that she didn't get time to see as she opened the door and immediately turned around. He rolled his eyes and zipped her up before brushing past her and looking around the familiar place. He still couldn't believe he was friends with such a bitch. She was his bitch though so that made it okay. He had slept with many people like her, just never befriended them.
"Do I look alright for this high class party or what?" He said as he held out his arms, letting her look at him. He knew that if he didn't look alright she'd make him change. She might even have had an outfit waiting. "Sorry I'm late by the way, I spent the whole day getting sweat with Scarlett so I accidentally fell asleep since I'm so shattered." He said with a wink, making it sound a lot more dirty than it had been.

Erin felt so much more comfortable as soon as her dress had been zipped up. She turned to face Jacob and pulled her dress up a little at the bust, hoping that it wasn't going to fall down at any point that evening. She watched him look around her place. She didn't know why, he had been there enough times and she hadn't changed anything recently. Erin looked him up and down discretely, quietly evaluating his appearance. And it was then that he asked her if he looked okay.
Erin openly looked at him. He looked smart but something was missing, she would have just given him the outfit she had hanging in the cupboard ready but it seemed a bit mean to undermine his dress sense like that, especially since she was working on trying not to be as much of a bitch. But then she had to weigh up the pros and cons, because this was a superficial socialite party, and the people attending might not be as nice and completely ignore the fact that his suit most likely wasn't designer.
By that point, Erin realised that she had been taking a long time trying to figure out what to say to him, that he'd probably realised that something was wrong with it anyway. "I promise I'm not trying to be a bitch, but its for your own good, this party is all about appearances, and without a designer suit, you might just get ripped to shreds. Wait."
With that, Erin walked into her bedroom and into her wardrobe, sliding her clothes to one side and pulling out the dust jacketed Armani suit, complete with bow tie. It was like a down styled version of a tux and it would suit Jacob to a tee. Erin walked back outside with it and gave it to him. "I hired it yesterday, it should fit, I'm pretty good with measurements," she said, trying to smile and sound nice, but she figured it wasn't really working.
When he next spoke, Erin had been about to forgive him for being late, until he finished what he was saying and then she just rolled her eyes. She saw the wink, and wondered for a second if he was just referring to training or to something more, and she felt a little flip in her stomach at that thought. Was that jealousy? If it was, it made her feel faintly ill, and faintly confused. She didn't have any kind of romantic or lustful feelings towards Jacob, he spent too much of his time telling her off for that.
"Spare me the gory details, I really do not want to hear what you and your boss get up to when you're supposed to be working," she said, hoping it would cover up her pause. She frowned at herself a little bit before walking into her bedroom to get her shoes.

Jacob just looked at Erin with an amused expression as he stood there under her critical gaze. It was funny how most looked at him in appreciation yet at that point, she wasn't looking at him in a sexual way at all. He was use to it though. Being friends with a well known model who lived for fashion did that to you. He sometimes came around wearing hideous outfits just to torture her. He raised an eyebrow as she immediately started with promising not to be a bitch. It meant that he hadn't met her standard which was probably fair enough, he wasn't overly bothered with having designer clothes. As long as he looked good was enough for him.
He was about to speak about how anyone could try rip him to threads but she was gone, off to get the suit she would have gotten earlier. He should have just asked her to drop it at his house because now he would have to come and get this one which would be left here. Not that he minded an extra trip to Erin's house. They spent quite a bit of time together now. He stood in the familiar area, leaning against a wall with his arms crossed as he waited to receive his 'proper' outfit. When she came back carrying it in one of those covers he knew that it must be fancy.
"I should have just come naked." He said with a wink as he took it from her.
Then as he started walking towards her bedroom to get changed he turned and walked backwards, smirking at her reaction to his comment about Scarlett. He was proud ti have evoked such a reaction. The fact she didn't snap back immediately with some witty or sarcastic response meant he had gotten to her, even if it was just a little. He stopped as he reached to door to get away when she finally spoke and he grinned. That was all she could come up with? That comment must have really bugged her.
"Don't worry Erin, it was all work. Though I'm sure you and I can play when we get back from this party." He said with an extra wink before laughing as he walked in to her room, shutting the door to get changed and before she could respond.
He loved teasing Erin because for some reason she reacted. He knew she didn't like him, he was no where near good enough for someone like her. He enjoyed being friends with her though. He seemed to be having an affect on her, making her want to be a better person and he had to admit he had gotten slightly addicted to helping her change because that was him. He had needed to become better. He unzipped the bag thing for the tux and raised an eyebrow. He had to admit, she had good taste. He undressed and slowly out the other outfit on. He didn't see how this was better than his other than the label but that was fine. He didn't want to embarrass her.
He walked out holding the bowtie in his hand, having never worn one so not knowing how to put it on. He was more of a tie person but he would go along with it. He knew he was going to look hot in this tux. It was snug in all the right places to show off that he was well defined beneath the material. Who knew, maybe he'd get some tonight. It had been so long because he had needed a break to allow himself not to be addicted to sex. He believed now that he could probably do it without craving it again after.
"How do I look?" He asked although he knew that it wasn't finished yet. He had also yet to put his shoes back on.
