Jay had a brother, there was no denying it, he'd seen it with his own eyes. He was of course younger than him, walking down the street with his mother and the lover whom she had run off with, leaving Nathaniel and Jay all alone without another word. Of course that meeting hadn't exactly gone all niceties and pleasantries, quite the opposite really. Jay had never hit a woman before in his life but that was before he met his mother who was adamant on being in his life again after everything she had done, all the pain she had caused to his family...
Despite that though, Jay wasn't going to blame Byron, he was only a kid and he had no idea about who and what his mother had done before he had been born so there was no reason to hate him. Jay still despised his mother but he was more than happy to try and get to know Byron better, he had after all never had siblings so better late then never.
Having sent the younger male a letter, asking to meet on his Hogsmead trip down Jay apparated to the familiar village, the cloak he wore keeping him warm in the chilly wind, the first signs of winter. Walking to the Three Broomsticks, where he said he'd meet Byron Jay took a seat, now all he had to do was wait.

Recently, it was like a tornado had scooped up Byron's life, circled it around a few times in a cyclone and then dropped it into a magical world that wasn't black and white. The house that represented his life had crushed the once perfect image of his mother beneath its wooden structure and the tornado thrust a sibling into his life as well. As far as Byron knew, he wasn't in Kanas anymore.
In a less Wizard of Oz explanation, Byron's life had been turned upside down. A day of shopping innocently with his mother and father had caused him to learn that he had a half-sibling and he(Byron) was a result of an affair between his mother and his father. Anthony Meyers had been "the other man."
When Jay had sent him a letter asking him to meet up on his next Hogsmeade trip, Byron couldn't decline the offer. After all, hadn't he been the one to tell Jay that he wanted a relationship? That he wanted them to be brothers? So in he slipped into his most fashionable and warm clothing before he made his way to the Three Broomsticks. There was a lot he was going to have to learn about Jay. Like, for the fact that he was going to be a father at eighteen. That meant Byron was about to be an uncle. An uncle and he didn't know the kids father!
Suddenly he became nervous and sweat began to seep through his palms. He entered the tiny restaurant and looked around for his half-brother. Seeing him sitting at a table alone, Byron hesitantly made his way over. Jay was certainly going to find out he was gay very soon, what if his sexuality was going to ruin their relationship? By was going to be sick. It was like coming out of the closet all over again.
"Hi, Jay," he said, slipping into a chair beside the man. "Thank you. For giving this a chance."

Jay didn't know what to think at the current moment, his head was all a fuddle. Was Byron going to hate him for the way he had tread his...their mother? Would he dislike him for knocking up his girlfriend so early? Would he despise him for destroying the image he had of the woman who had claimed to be Jay's mother once? All of these thoughts -negative ones only- were bouncing around the young healers' head, echoing back and forth and making him doubt his decision to come here and meet Byron to talk it over with him, as a brother. He decided to steel himself though, it wasn't like Jay to run away from a situation that scared him and if it came to a situation where it turned sour...well, he'd deal with it then.
Jay had left Bethany at home for the day, he hoped that she wouldn't worry about him too much since he had told her of his plan to meet with the younger male. He knew he'd either be going home disappointed or satisfied. Jay didn't have a family outside that of Bethany and their child to be, but it would be nice to add to that family since Bethany's family accepted him...minus Mr. Maddix of course but that was always going to be the same no matter what Jay did.
At the sound of a chime Jay looked up to the door to see Byron enter and Jay gave a tentative smile, nervousness written all over his face. How was he supposed to go about this. It seemed Byron had an idea as he spoke first, sitting down beside him. "Hello Byron," Jay replied, his curls bouncing slightly as he turned himself to face Byron at a better angle, that and to also take the moment to wipe his sweaty palms on his jeans. "It's no big deal, I want to get to know my little brother...if you'd like to of course."

They were talking. This was an excellent start. Of course, one could feel the tension between the two as they spoke. They had a rather awkward meeting quite awhile back and Byron hadn’t been sure if the two would ever have a relationship as siblings. If he would ever get to meet that child that Jay’s girlfriend was carrying. He hadn’t known it then, but all of his life he had yearned for a sibling. He only recognized his longing when he realized that he may not get the chance to share that experience with the sibling he knew he had. That was why he was so grateful that Jay was at least going to put forth an effort, he could only wish that they would become closer in time. Byron wiped his sweaty palms on his pants nonchalantly, he stared down at his outfit for a second before he answered Jay. ”Well of course I do. I mean, I wouldn’t have agreed to meet you had I not wanted to try and be the brothers we should be.” How were you supposed to start something like this? They had already had their awkward introductions, he had barely met Jay’s girlfriend and had gotten a shock when he learned that he was going to be an uncle. An uncle to a child whose father he barely even knew. ”I guess we should start this whole thing by getting to know each other, eh?” He settled into the back of his chair and was trying to get a feel for the environment around him. ”Let’s do the question game. That’s an easy place to start. I’m sorry. This is just so weird and awkward. I’m not usually like this, but I’m not usually trying to get to know a guy I just learned to be my brother.”

Jay was surprised that things were going as smoothly as they were, especially since the last time he had seen Byron he had slapped his (both of their) mother in the face. The eldest of the two didn't regret that one bit though, no his mother deserved that for even thinking she could come back into his life after all the pain she had caused Jay's family. Hell, in his mind he never had, nor ever would have a mother. His family will always consist of his father, his girlfriend and his unborn child.
He smiled his usual dimpled, lopsided grin to the younger boy. Jay was sure they'd get on like peas in a pod as long as family wasn't mentioned. Byron was, after all his half brother and hopefully no mention of Jay's father would be brought up in this conversation because Nathaniel's death was still a heavy and ever present burden on the young Harrison's heart. "Yes, I'd like for a brother, I never had siblings after all." Nathaniel never remarried nor dated, which was sad since he could have moved on if he wanted to but he said that the only person he needed in his life was Jay, and Jay alone. It was really too much to think that Nathaniel had never had the chance to see just how far Jay had come.
Jay chuckled lightly at the suggestion by the younger boy, just another reminder that the boy was still just a child who was, still naive and innocent to the world. "Sure thing, do you want to start or should I?" Jay smiled to try and ease the boy's nervousness, he could see that Byron was nervous, hell he was too but he was going to try his best to hide that. "And weird and awkward and good things, trust me you'd much rather stand out in the world than to fade into the background. Hence why I love my eyes, since they make me uniquely different from everyone else." Jay explained, gesturing to his oddly coloured purple and gold eyes.
