Dominic was back in town. By town he meant London. He hadn't been in London for a two years. He had been doing a lot of work in South Africa which he had thrived in. The heat was great for him. He had a great tan and had met a few amazing woman. of course he hadn't stayed with any longer than a month. He refused to let them get attached because really, he wasn't the type of guy to let someone get attached. He didn't know how long he'd last for and he wasn't the one to let someone keep him grounded. So now he was back and currently walking into the Ministry.
He nodded at the people he knew and grinned at everyone else. He winked at one particular good-looking girl and watched her turn to the girl next to her in excitement. He chuckled to himself before getting in the elevator and pressing a number not many people pressed. He grinned the entire time as he lent against the wall. He loved that he was allowed in the Department of Mysteries. So many people envied him for it, especially in his job. As the elevator stopped he stepped ff into the black, shiny tiled hallway. He was dressed in a smart soon and his shoes clacked on the floor.
He made his way to an office and pushed open the door. It had been a few weeks since the attack and he knew Don was in it and had been badly injured. He just hoped he was back in his office by now. He opened the door and grinned at his old friend. Don had been one of the firs people he had befriended in the Ministry. He had actually been undercover in there, investigating something which he still couldn't tell to anyone there but he had come clean now to most of them.
"Don, my man. It's been a while. I heard you got banged up pretty badly a while back. You don't look too bad, I see they couldn't fix your face but oh well." He grinned as he lent in the doorway.

Donovan had awoken from his sleep and had found himself in a bit of a mess. He would sort it out though, he and his wife and child...they would get it all worked out. What a surprise though, and a shock. Donovan didn't even recall such a thing ever have happening...although there was a faint memory of once there being a time of fighting with his girlfriend, ending up with him a drunken mess at the Gerard household...but it was slightly blurred and a little bit incoherent which Donovan could only assume was the alcohol having made his memory faze.
Now the man was back at work, much to the dislike of his healers. He was fine though, he assured them of that fact. He had been asleep for far too long, a month now they had said which was a month away from doing anything. It was time to go back to doing his job, something which he enjoyed and relished in. He needed this, an escape. Donovan needed to get his body back into the daily routine of physical activity and to get out a relish a little bit of magic since it had seemed to have been unused for a month.
Sitting at the desk in his office he brushed his hair back out of his eyes, he was in need of a trim it seemed. Hearing the door to the office open Don lifted his gaze. "Oh hey Dominic, back now then?" he said, knowing that the other elementalist had been away from quite some time overseas. "And I know, it's a bit of a shame really, gave me a nose job though."

It was a relief to see Don okay. He had been worried for the fellow Elementalist. If he died then a new one would come forth since there was only ever on elementalist per element at a time. He didn't want one on the bad side. He knew there might already be some but he doubted that they were in England, let alone death eaters. He was lucky enough to have even met Don and the Ministry was lucky enough to have two working for them. Well, one and a half since he technically didn't work for the Ministry.
"I am, this mess you can't seem to handle has pulled me back from the heat of Africa to this dull place." He said as he looked around his office in distaste though he was kidding of course. It was actually quite nice to be back.
He chuckled as Don just continued with his insult. It was no fun unless he tried to insult him back. He liked Don. He was probably the closest thing he had to a real friend. There was Scarlett but that girl was so hidden behind all the layers she put around herself that he could never be sure. Of course as a spy he was meant to dissect those but he didn't want to for her. She deserved privacy. Since Don went through nearly the same thing he did he felt that they were kind of friends.
"It's alright, you've already got a girl so you don't need to look pretty." He said before a though struck his mind from his meeting with the Minister. "Do you go up the the Minister's floor a lot? Ever seen his receptionist?" He asked as he thought of his surprise meeting with Onyx.

The older male still wasn't in the best of shape, you couldn't really see it since it was more internal than anything else but the slight out of breathlessness in his voice could be heard as he spoke. Even with healing and recuperation his body was still a mess on the inside, having a wolf trying to gnaw on your face kind of did that to you, especially when said wolf was probably over a ton in weight. Donovan should feel lucky to have survived, but he was grateful whether it was to luck or fate or pure coincidence. He was alive, he had his wife and son and now, a little baby girl.
"Well I guess they only called you in for clean up then since now I'm back and all you're presence really isn't needed," Don replied, giving his friend a grin. The younger male like him was an elementalist, one which was fire and he being water. They were two opposites, fire and water yet their friendship let them get along well, although the few sparring matches they did have always ended up causing quite a bit of damage so they'd been banned from fighting indoors at the Ministry.
"Well of course, Katy just loves this face," Donovan said as he ran a hand over his stubbled chin, the scratchiness soothing. He was always a bit scruffy, he liked to look the part of it with his wind swept locks and hard eyes. "Although I'd like to think two girls now, Katy just had our daughter a few weeks back."
"Onyx something right? I've spoken to her briefly with visits to the Minister, nothing too long of course merely just a few pleasantries," Donovan replied, "why do you ask anyway? You know her? Or is she going to be the next victim in your heart breaking ways?"

Dominic just chuckled as he spoke. It was exactly the same thing Scarlett had said. He knew both were kidding because they needed him. Scarlett more than Don. If anyone thought they could take this on alone they were fools. They needed all the help they could get. He wasn't sure whether he liked that everyone was joking around about it either but he supposed it was better than everyone worrying and fleeing and mayhem which he was sure would follow in the not too distant future.
"Good luck fighting them off by yourself. You did a great job the first time." He teased. He had head all about the fight. He took on Rainer which was a stupid thing to do. Especially since, by the sounds of it, he had been trying to kill his mate. Dominic had read up on every magical creature and he knew that that was one thing you didn't do. Especially to an Alpha male. In saying that, Rainer was probably the deadliest werewolf alive.
Then his eyes widened at his words. He had a kid? Since fucking when? That was surprising. A baby girl. He wondered if he would ever have kids. It was about time for Don though, he was 30 something now.
"A kid? Holy shit you're old." He teased. "But seriously that's awesome Don. What's her name? How old?" He asked.
Then as he listened to him speak about Onyx he had to smile slightly at the fact that he didn't say anything on her looks since she was definitely the most attractive one in the Ministry. Of course the veela in her helped that. He chuckled as he asked whether it was next target. The idea was ridiculous. She was far too good for him and he could never jeopardize her with getting involved.
"No, no, no. I knew her before all of.. this." He said. Don was the only one here who knew really what he did. Other than the Minister and such. "She was my best friend. I was just surprised to find her here."

"Ah well, happens to the best of us," Donovan said in reply as he leant back in his office chair, propping his feet up on his desk amongst the piles of folders and papers. Technically it all should be filed away by now but Don wasn't really all that bothered, he'd do it all later. Plus now that Dominic was here he could serve as a distraction as well as an excuse for him to do his paper work.
Don could see that his friend was shocked about the baby. He could tell though that the younger male was happy for him, probably thought he should be having kids in his age. Little did the younger male know that Don had a child before, they just never made it through their first day alive. "Yeah shut up," Donovan said as he gave the male the finger as he spoke about his age, he wasn't exactly all that old, he was thirty three but he was older than most people he knew, especially when all his co-workers were really old and he was the youngest there.
"Her name is Jenna, after my wife's mother," Donovan said happily, "she's only a month or so old now, she was born premature so they've been keeping her at Mungos to make sure there aren't any complications from the early birth and all."
Donovan easily spotted the smile on Dom's face and he knew then that there was something more going on there. Don would call it instinct, but he knew that look anywhere. "Oh? Old friends then, but I'm still sure you want to hit that from that cheeky smile I see," Don teased back, "best friend, that's a surprise, I thought I was the bestie."
