Donovan stood in the small room of the mansion which his grandmother now lived in alone, her only company these days being the house elves, straightening the black tie he wore with his white suit. His Mamé had offered up the large country side mansion for their stay and asked for her only grandson to have his wedding in France. Donovan and Katy had discussed it in depth and they had decided that it would be nice to have a small wedding with just close family and friends, something about the countryside was appealing. With all the arrangements made, the cost was fairly minimal with their housing being provided by the numerous spare rooms which his Mamé had. They had apparated out for a weekend, checking the local areas for a church where they could hold the ceremony and had discovered a stone cathedral up into the mountains, surrounded by trees and nature. It would be perfect, especially if they held it in summer when the sun would be shining. With that final decision, Katy and Don booked everything from catering to a priest, now all they had to do was wait around for the day to come. Looking at his reflection in the mirror he smiled, this was it. Today was the day he was going to be married to his girlfriend of two years, Katy Black. He had proposed to her one year ago when they had been out to dinner one night, and his blonde beauty had accepted. Donovan had been hesitant about relationships ever since his first had crumbled to pieces in such a way, but over the years Donovan hadn't regretted his decision with Katy. She was his everything, and her son Will was like his own. Donovan thought of the two as his family, and now today, they officially would be. Hearing a knock at the door had the tall man turning, saying loudly, "come in." The familiar face of his mamé popped around the door as the tiny woman scuttled in. Donovan smiled as he embraced his beloved grandmother, having to bend down to even be in her reach. 'Mon petit-fils,' the elderly lady said with tears in her eyes as she held Don's cheeks within her own frail hands, 'I'm so proud of you...' Donovan just nodded with a soft smile, he owed the woman before him his life and he loved her dearly. "Merci grand-mère," Donovan said in reply. 'Now let me have a look at you!' the elderly woman stated as she straightened Don's tie again for him, motioning for him to spin around to which he complied. 'Ah, impeccable,' she said with a small clap of her hands. 'I hope you're ready, I peeked in on the bride and she's looking parfait.' The dark haired male merely smiled, thinking of Katy who was getting ready down the hall, knowing that she was going to look as stunning as she usually did. The two had decided to follow traditions, no seeing the bride before the wedding and they had spent the night apart. Donovan would only see Katy when she walked down the aisle, and they'd even be traveling there in separate cars. 'You'll be leaving first Donnie, his grandmother told him as she motioned for the door, 'hurry now, we must hurry.' Donovan just chuckled, exiting from his room as he paused by the room he knew his soon-to-be wife was behind as he kissed the door, resting his head against the wood before he kept moving, out the door to the waiting cars below. It was the big day. Katy was going to marry Donovan Maddix, her boyfriend of two years. After much deliberation and preparation, the two were having their wedding in France. The blonde had always had her roots in England, but to be celebrating such a momentus occasion in France, it made Katy giddy. She stared at herself in front of a full length-mirror, admiring her dress. A smile was on her face that couldn't be wiped away, nothing was going to ruin this day for her. Katy was going to marry Don and that was that. "Momma pretty!" Will chanted from his spot on the bed. He fussed with his little tie and Katy giggled, picking him up and kissing his cheek. "Thank you, baby. You look dashing yourself."She threw a glance to Cherry, her mother figure since she had been four. The older woman had tears in her eyes as she held Katy's veil in her hands. The blonde was grateful that Cherry wasn't mentioning her first marriage, it would have killed the excellent buzz that she was having. "Oh, Kat. You're so beautiful. You'll surely blow Don over when you walk down that aisle."Katy ran her fingers over her dress, touching the gold beads and designs with gently fingers. "I sure hope so. I could hardly sleep last night because he wasn't there beside me. I've become to attached to it, already." She smiled as Cherry carefully placed the veil and tiny tiara in Katy's hair. She placed the white fabric over Katy's face and the younger woman watched as tears rolled down her cheeks. "Oh, Cherry. Don't cry. If you cry I'm going to cry and then it's going to be a mess!""And then ima cry!" Will chimed in before looking to the door, "I wan daddy."Katy blinked back her tears and felt the happiness flood through her. It was an amazing feeling to have Will call Don his daddy. That was what he was and she knew he would never forget it. "Checklist! Something old." Cherry said, glancing at the clock. "It's almost time to head out."Katy pointed to the locket around her neck, it was the one thing that she had of her mother. It was important to Katy that Jenna was with her while she tied the knot with the most important person in her life. "Something new."Katy ran her fingers down her dress. "Something borrowed." Katy pointed to the tiara atop her head, "Cherry, you know this. This was yours, silly.""Kat, I'm just going through the list. Don't make me ground you from your own wedding." This earned another giggle from Katy and a flash of that grin of hers. "Something blue."Very carefully, Katy picked up her dress to show off the baby blue lacy garter around her thigh. She grinned devilishly before Cherry gasped. "We have to go or we'll be late! Come here, Will, let's wipe that chocolate off your face."Katy slipped her hand into Cherry's and glanced back at the mirror once more. She was saying good-bye to Katy Black, and this time she didn't feel any sorrow. "Let's go get married!" She giggled as they began the walk to the cars that would take them to the church. Dress

Donovan climbed into the old vintage car which his father had let him borrow, the pureblood male having despite his upbringing, a love for the old style vehicles that muggles rode almost fifty years ago. The black car was sleek and tied to the front was white ribbon, signifying the wedding procession. Donovan looked up at the house as the driver started up the engine, a bit of a struggle since it was worn down with use but it revved to life eventually. The male hoped that Katy was alright, and that she was just as excited for this as he was, his heart was barely keeping silent as the pumping blood echoed within his head. As they took off down the stone driveway Donovan turned to the window, staring out at the cloudless sky, the bright blue making it seem as if even the heavens were shining down on them. The scraggly-haired male had to wonder how Bethany was, she was like a sister to him, even in some senses like a daughter. She had disappeared without a word and he hadn't a clue as to where she had been whisked off to despite all his training in tracking. It was either that she had been killed or had been taken overseas where his jurisdiction couldn't hold any power, Don just hoped it was the latter. As the car pulled up at the church Donovan stepped out, his black shined shoes reflecting the sunlight, his white suit pressed perfectly and tailored to fit his every line perfectly. Turning to look at his reflection in the car window, Don fixed his hair and rubbed his hand over his chin, the little stubble there rough against his hand but it soothed him, suddenly jittery now that he was standing outside the church where he'd be married. Soon, he would be exiting out those very doors with a blushing bride on his arm, the two joined in holy matrimony and with the exchange of rings, pledge their devotion and love to the other. This was it, and as Donovan made his inside the large chapel he looked about in awe as the place with lit with the sunshine coming in through the stain glass windows, casting patches of colour about the room. Walking down the aisle he finally made it to the front podium, the raised area being where he'd wait for his fiance, where he'd watch her walk down the aisle towards him. He turned, looked around the empty church as he smiled to himself in happiness. He was ready for this, more than he'd ever been. He stepped off the podium and went to greet the priest who'd be reading their marriage for them, blessing them. People began to file in, the few close friends of the two families arriving as they all took seats on their appropriate sides of the room, all chatting happily. As there was the sound of another car arriving up front Donovan and the Priest made their way to the front, the handsome male taking his place as he clasped his hands behind his back, his stance strong as he awaited the entrance of Katy, his future wife. Katy, little Will and Cherry all got into the car. Will sat beside her and she was amazed about how tall her little boy was getting, he was going to be a heartbreaker when he got older. She held his little hand and took a deep breath, looking in front of her and smiling knowing her future husband was just ahead of her. The blonde turned her head to Cherry, holding her hand with Katy's free hand. "Don't worry, it's all going to work out this time." Katy voiced the older woman's fears.
"I don't want you getting hurt."
Katy laughed at the thought. She wasn't afraid of being hurt anymore, physically or emotionally. Don was careful around her, he never purposely made sharp movements just to see her reaction. He was man, not a temperamental child in a man's body. He loved her and her son, that was more then Katy could ever have asked for. She shook her head, "He's good. He's a real man, he's a man who will go to the ends of the Earth for us. He keeps his promises and he tells me how much he loves me. I'm treated right, and being with him? It feels right. They say everything happens for a reason, Don was my reason."
"Daddy was momma's prince!" Will said, leaning against his mother's arm.
"What he said." Katy smiled turning to look at Cherry. "I'm ready for this." As soon as the words left her lips, the car came to a stop and she was speechless once more about how beautiful the church was. Will scrambled out of the vehicle and helped Katy out, his dark brown eyes shining with the biggest smile on his face.
"Thank you, kind sir." Katy giggled as she finally stood on her own and picked up Will's hand once more. Katy didn't have a father to walk her down the aisle, she had asked Cherry but she refused, saying she knew someone better. So who was giving Katy away at the wedding? It was her little boy beside her. And to Katy, she couldn't have imagined anyone better.
Cherry hastily lead them into the church and behind the doors where Katy would make her giant entrance. Katy hated being the center of attention, it always embarrassed her and her cheeks turned rosy. As Cherry opened the doors to slip inside and take her seat, Katy asked, "Can't I just walk in with you?"
"No, you cannot. Now you just sit your pretty little derrière right there and you wait." Then the older woman slipped inside the church and gave Katy's future husband a thumbs up and a smile.
Katy looked down at Will, "Are you nervous?" She asked him, Will shook his head and she let out a deep breath. "Good. Don't let momma fall, okay?"
"Neber eber!"
The wedding march began and the doors opened to reveal the small party that they had invited to the wedding. They were all standing and all looking at Katy but her eyes didn't stray to them, they were locked on Don. Her heart felt like it would explode in her chest and it took all she had not to go sprinting down the aisle.
"Come on, momma! Daddy's waiting!" Will began to pull at his mother, starting the walk. He threw up his little arm and waved to everybody before he waved to his daddy. It seemed as if Will loved being the center of attention.
After what seemed like agonizing hours, which was really only a few mere minutes, Katy was where she wanted to be, at Don's side. Will got on his tip toes to give his father Katy's hand. Before he looked up at him, "Take care of, momma. I'll be watching you." Then he scrambled to his seat.
Katy was suppressing giggles but she squeezed Don's hand and mouthed. "I love you."

As the doors finally opened Donovan stood proud and tall as the rest of the church stood to face the bride who was at the entrance. As Katy stood there in her white gown, veil covering her face and her son holding her hand Donovan almost felt like crying although he refrained from doing so. This is what he had always wanted, a family to love and protect, to have someone to come home to instead of an empty house. This was his family walking down the aisle towards him, they were going to be his life from now on.
As Katy looked at him from her position he gave her a bright smile, happiness reflected in it as he waited almost impatiently for Katy to walk down the aisle, the big male jiggling slightly in giddiness. As Will -the escort for Katy- walked his mother down the aisle Donovan had to smile as the small boy waved his arms about in greeting to those he passed. The older male knew that once his son grew up a little more he definitely was going to be a heart breaker for sure.
As they finally made it to the front after what felt like years, Donovan finally saw his future wife up close he took her hand gently within his own, giving it a firm squeeze in reassurance. At Will's words Don just chuckled, "will do little man, and I'll make sure you can see me at all times." He gave the little boy a grin and a small fist bump -something which he had been teaching the boy recently- before he let Will scurry away to sit in his allocated seat in the pews, the best seat in the house for him to watch his mother and soon to be father.
Turning back to Katy he saw her mouthed words, his lips twisting up into a smile. "Love you too," he mouthed back before he turned to the priest as he began to read through the bible, the verses said echoing out into the high-ceiling church.

When Katy was finally down the aisle, she had to hold back the urge to kiss Don. It felt strange, not being able to kiss him, not being able to hug him. She had been doing that and so much more over the course of a year, why couldn't she do it now?
She listened to what the priest was saying, but her eyes were focused on her husband-to-be. They were so close yet so far. When came time for the vows, Katy was up first. She took a deep breath and looked at the older male, it was only them in the room. "Don, I don't think you have any idea what you're getting yourself into. I mean, why would a man as attractive like yourself want to come home to the same woman every night?" Her pink lips pulled into a smile as she squeezed his hands, "What is there to say that I don't already say every day? If anything was a definition for a prince charming, it's you. You've saved my life, you've loved me and protected me, you took in my son as your own. That means so much to me, it means the world that you would do that for both of us. You've given us the home we needed and we'll gladly be yours in return.
"I've told you things I've told few people, instead of pushing me away, you helped me through it. You still help me, every single day. And I know you'll continue to love me, take care of me and protect me for the rest of our lives. I love you, Don, and I will always need to stay by your side. If last night was any proof of what it would be like without you, I never want to face it again. You've saved your princess, and, baby, now you're stuck with her." She winked at him before a little voice popped up.
"'xcuse me! I have someting I wan to tell my daddy!"
Katy turned to see Will standing with his little arm raised, once she nodded to him, he stood up and rushed to where his momma and daddy were. The little blonde boy looked up at his father and happily said, "Before momma was wif you, her life was like a plain donut. It wasn' nummy. But den you came an' now the donut is jelly-filled. An' you make momma happy an' you make me happy an' my donut is covered in sprinkles, 'cause I don't like jelly donuts, an-an' I wuv you, daddy. An' I'm glad your my daddy." Will grasped Don's leg as he began to cry, "I tol' myself I wouldn't cry!"
Katy scooped up the boy into her arms and held him in between her and Don. She brushed his hair with her fingers and let out silent giggles. "That was very sweet," her eyes met Don's once again, "and they were very true."

Donovan had to chuckle as Katy read her vows, the first words out of her mouth being a joke which was quite typically Katy that it was cute. He just stood there with a smile, his eyes glued on Katy as he listened to her vows which she had written up for this occassion. He himself had written his own, a true expression of his feelings for the woman before him.
Just as he himself was about to begin his own vows a small voice from the front spoke up. Will had toddled over to the front, standing between he and Katy and the taller male smiled down at the young boy, "what's this you wanna tell me kiddo?" He listened as his son spoke, the little voice speaking up loudly for all to hear. Don felt touched that the young boy saw that he was and would make his mother happy, he knew just how much Will was aware of his mother's feelings and her sadness and her fears, he was in tune with her emotionally and mentally on a link only between a mother and child.
"I love you too Will, you're just the sweetest cherry to my cake too, I'd just eat you all up," Don said with a wink to the little boy, leaning down to give him a hug. Kneeling on the floor he embraced Will tightly, whispering into the little boy's ear, "I promise to look after your mum...always, so no need to cry ok?" He chuckled the last part out as the little boy seemed to sob into his chest.
Pulling back, Don let Katy pick up Will as she held him to her chest. "Better not get your mummy's dress all slobbery with your boogers ok Will?" Don teased at the still blubbering boy. Will just poked out his tongue and Don just laughed. 'Shall we continue now?' the priest asked. "Of course."
Donovan took a deep breath, in and out as he closed his eyes momentarily to gather himself. Once he opened his bright eyes he stared straight at Katy, wanting to convey as much as he could with his next words. "Katharine Ashley Black, from the day I had first met you I had regained my smile. For so long I had never thought I'd come to love anyone again, experiencing a loss once before had turned my heart cold to all ideas of happiness and a family. I had rejected any sort of compassion from another human being, I had distanced myself from personal relationships because I didn't want to be hurt again. In truth though, I had been running away. I had been a coward, too afraid to take a chance in something so brilliant and something as magical as love."
He paused, taking Katy's hand as he gave it a squeeze, his fingers entwining with hers. "I was glad I took that chance, that I tried to make something special with you, that I made myself step out of my walls of solitude which kept me at a distance from the world, stepping into a world with you. I have loved you since that day I woke up from your house after having been in a coma, and I've never regretted asking you out. You changed me, for the better Katharine Black, and I pledge my life and soul that I will always love you, protect you, and do my best to be the best husband I can be for you and be the best father I can be to our son."
Donovan let out a breathe of relief as he said his final words, his shoulders sagging slightly now that the main part was over with. As the Priest continued to speak Don just kept his face towards his future wife's across from him and the whole world didn't seem to matter. The only reason he had been shaken from his dreaming was the fact that there were rings being handed to each of them. Taking the silver band, Don held it in his hand, the diamonds incrusted into it catching the light streaming in through the windows.
Taking Katy's left hand, Donovan held the small ring between his thumb and index finger, maneuvering it so it slid perfectly onto Katy's ring finger, a exact fit. "Will you, Katy Black, through sickness and through health, till death do we part do me the honour of being my wife?"
