Screams and laughter filled the air of Zonko's Joke Shop. It wasn't often that Bethany could handle so much noise after being used to so much quiet, but despite herself, she was one of the many people laughing and squealing at jokes that surprised her. It was her day off, as it always was. She needed to focus on finding a job, the money she took when she left could only pay rent so many times before it all withered away.
But she wasn't thinking about that now. The only thoughts in her mind was which gag she would try out next. She picked up a can of peanut butter and looked severely confused, since when did the Wizarding World sell muggle peanut butter? The smell was absolutely delicious though, but she couldn't be fooled! This was a joke shop after all.
Very cautiously, she un-screwed the top. As she racked her brain for possibilities, she finally remembered where she had seen this! It had been on TV; you un-screwed the top and these springy snake things made of fabric jumped out. This was when Beth realized she had unscrewed the top and there truly was nothing but peanut butter in it. Wha-? Her head turned to the boy next to her and watched in surprise as his head morphed into a giant peanut butter sandwich-with a face. Quickly, she screwed the top back on before laughing at the other boy's expense. She was highly grateful she didn't eat the peanut butter as she so badly wanted to do.
A familiar face down the stairs caught her eye and Beth couldn't help hopping over the railing and onto the first floor. It wasn't a large drop, she was used to far taller and she had been on the stairs on her way back down when she saw it. Quickly, she began to push through the busy crowd toward her target.
"Excuse me. Gotta get through. Boy over there. If you would just let me squeeze-" Finally, she was free and began at a run to the other boy's back. Hopefully he still had it in him to catch her at her random jumpings. Just like old times. With a jump, Bethany landed on the boy's back, wrapping her legs around his waist and leaning forward to wrap her hands around his eyes. "Guess who?"
