Jamie leant up against the railing of the pier, hands in pockets as he smoked a cigarette. Life had been giving him a hard time of late, and Jamie was in a state of utter confusion and sadness. The loss of a child had made him open his eyes to the fact that he couldn't recklessly put Abby in danger like that again, but it also made this unsettled feeling of guilt and self loathing seep through his soul. He had been the one responsible for all this, it had been his own fault for having made Abby suspicious in the first place.
Sighing, Jamie slid the lit cigarette between his fingers, pulling it from his mouth and tapping the ashes off with his forefinger, blowing out a plume of smoke. He hadn't even known why he had stopped by here, it was such a public area but it had been on the way back to his and Abby's apartment. The Slytherin alumni had to worry about Abby, she wasn't taking this all too well. He wasn't either, but he hid the fact that he had cried for days by having run away. He couldn't have stayed any longer by her side, not without breaking down and sobbing. He had lost a child, a little baby that he hadn't even been aware about.
As a brunette walked past Jamie had to pause, staring back after her. He had the inkling of a feeling that he knew her from somewhere, he just didn't know exactly. Then it struck him, and he snagged out a hand to catch her arm to pause her. "Bee that you?"

Bethany was taking a walk down the pier by herself. Jay was at work and it almost felt strange to be this lonely. She had been lonesome for two years and she was just fine, but now, when knowing that the ones she loved were just around the corner or down the street she felt lonely? Being away had taken a toll on her sanity. Her cardigan wrapped itself around her body, her hands clutching it closed, it was supposed to be hot out but with it being so early and the tide just rolling in Beth had known it was going to be chilly.
Her jeans kept her legs warm and her high-tops kept her toes toasty. Her mind was elsewhere as she walked. Bethany still had so many people she needed to seek out like Sky but only one man had been plaguing her mind.
No. Not Jay. And before you get the wrong impression, she wasn't thinking the thoughts that she thought about her boyfriend. Those thoughts belonged in a locked diary that would be burned shortly. She was thinking of the man that was like a brother to her, one that she actually appreciated. Jamie. She was honestly afraid to seek him out, to see him and then tell him how sorry she was. Her nerves about him were just as bad as the ones with Jay, but in a completely different way.
She had been so lost in her thoughts, she hadn't noticed a hand reaching out to grab her arm until it happened. Then her defenses kicked in and she spun around. Beth couldn't help the smile that quickly spread on her face. "You're lucky it was you. I was about to punch some poor bloke for laying a hand on me." There he was. Right in front of her. Jamie Daven.

Jamie had been extremely angered when he had heard that Bethany had been taken by Vance her brother whom he knew of only by name. Jamie had met Bethany when they had been at Hogwarts and while she had been two years below him, he had come to look out for her like a brother. The Slytherin alumni had always known that Bethany was capable of looking after herself, she was quite the feisty girl after all but he was still worried when she had disappeared.
It didn't help that Bethany's boyfriend had to be Jay Harrison, a friend of that McRae. Jamie and Gabriel had never been on good terms, especially since Gabriel didn't approve of Jamie dating Abby. But even McRae had ended up dropping out in their final year, running off to god knows where. Jamie still recalled having to comfort Abby for weeks for that, the bastard hadn't even contacted her, just having left a letter explaining that he was leaving. That still kept Jamie's hate for the Ravenclaw male running, and he was sure that if he ever saw McRae again he'd have punched him in the face.
Jamie just smirked at Bethany's words, raising a brow. "Come on Bee as if your punch is ever gonna do damage," Jamie teased although he pulled her to his chest in a tight hug. "You're fucking stupid you know, you didn't even write to tell me where you ended up being carted off to...could've written ya know?" He pulled away, letting a crooked smirk cross his lips as he messed up her hair, ruffling it till to was all puffed up. "Punishment for not coming back earlier."
