Bethany had been in the hospital for quite some time after the birth of her son. They said they were keeping her to make sure she was alright, but she didn't quite understand. Alright? She felt perfectly fine. However, she did remember feeling terrible after Nate was born. Maybe Jay had taken her to the hospital in fear after she fainted. Beth could quite honestly not remember a single thing that happened, but Jay always had this strange look in his eye when he looked at her. When she had first woken up, she had thought Jay was about to cry.
Currently, Beth was sitting in the hospital bed. She had been to the hospital more times than she enjoyed in the last year. Nate was cradled awkwardly in her arms and she watched him with a sense of awe. Her big brown eyes, Jay's dark curls, a cute little nose, five fingers, five little toes; Bethany loved her son. She wasn't sure how she was going to feel about being a mother at seventeen, but when she held the baby in her arms, she knew her love was unconditional.
A knock sounded at the door and she looked up from Nate, holding him closer and hoping it wasn't the doctors here to take him away again. Maybe it was Jay and they could be family for just a little while before he had to leave back to work. The door opened and Beth looked back down at Nate.
She had heard about Katy and Don's situation from Jay. She hasn't thought he would be coming to see her as all of his focus would be on finding his own children. "Jay...told me about Will and Jenna. I'm so sorry, Don..."
Bethany wanted to be civilized with Don again. She missed his hugs, his soft words, his love. She wanted him to be in her life again, in his grandson's life. Nate turned his head to look at Don and he began to kick his feet, a toothless smile on his lips. It seemed as though Nate had fallen in love with his grandfather already. If nothing else, Beth needed to reconcile with Don for Nate.
