It had been a long time, three months since he had found out that Scarlett was pregnant. He spent most of his time with her though there were days and even a few weeks where he couldn't be. He had practically moved in to her house. He wasn't sure what they were, if they were a relationship or not. Nothing had been said but he had a feeling that if he ever got with another woman than he would be castrated. The thing was though, that it didn't even cross his mind to try it with another woman. He hated thought about another woman in quite a while. Scarlett was all he thought about that bothered him slightly.
He was returning after being gone for a few days. He had been given a job to do by Liam and although he had asked her not to, Scarlett was at work anyway. He had done his job which had gone wrong slightly and he'd had to kill someone. It wasn't his first murder but it still got under his skin slightly. He had never meant to hurt them but they had given him no choice. He was also a bit tentative about going back to Scarlett as he walked inside. He knew that Ministry would know about the murder but there was no way to connect it to him.
He wasn't sure where she was so instead he went straight to the downstairs bedroom and used the bathroom to shower. He needed one since he hadn't managed to get one since he'd left. He had debated going back to his house for a night but truthfully he had to make sure Scarlett and his child was alright. In his mind he had grown incredibly protective of the child and he knew that as soon as the kid was born he would be a goner. He got out of the shower and found some clothes of his in the room, putting on sweatpants and a singlet.
He then shook his wet hair and walked from the bedroom to the kitchen to get some food only to see Scarlett in there. He jumped slightly at the sight of her though he didn't know why. "Hey Scar." He said to acknowledge her before opening the pantry. Then as he reached to grab a bag of chips he saw it and his eyes widened in horror. The mark, the one of the Dark Lord was on his forearm. He had forgotten to put the usual spell on it since he hadn't had it covered for the past few days. It was there in pain view and his wand was back in the bedroom.
He turned, holding the chips in such a way that his arm wasn't facing her and lent against the pantry doors. "How've you been?" He asked though he was panicking on the sinde.

For the past few days Scarlett had been alone in her old house, the peeling paint on the walls kept bugging her, she didn't want her child to grow up in this dump like she did. Hell Scarlett only still lived here because she'd look to the bedroom that her mother had killed herself in, hung from the fan above the floor and she'd be reminded of her revenge. Now though, thinking of the baby growing in her stomach she could only hope for a better life, even if it was one without her in it. Jes would take good care of their baby, even if he was a little suspicious with his leavings of 'work'.
Scarlett knew better. She was an auror, she had an inkling of a feeling that something wasn't exact right but she had no proof and, besides she wasn't even sure she'd want to do anything even if she did find out the truth about Jesse, whether it was what she believed or not. Scar didn't want to ever admit it to him, but over the past three months that they had been together for, each day more she spent with him had her craving his touch even more. It wasn't just lust anymore, she just wanted to feel his warmth, to take comfort in one person she'd have never thought she'd find such peace in.
She came home from work, knowing that Jesse wouldn't be home today as the charms around her faded away with a ripple of magic, exposing the tiny bump on her stomach through her thin shirt. Taking off her coat she threw it over the coat stand by the door. She could hear the shower running down the hall though and it brought a smile to her face, a real smile. Jesse was home...
Scarlett moved from the entrance hall to the kitchen, setting about to making some food, after a hard days work she was starving, which was strange since she was never, ever hungry. It had to be the babies doing. Even if she couldn't usually hold down all that much food it was weird to be eating at 5 in the afternoon. She only ever ate breakfast before the pregnancy, her sickness had practically killed her appetite and her body had shown it. Now though, with her eating her cheeks looked a little fuller and a skin a lot healthier and she could tell she had this, glow about her. She didn't know what was wrong with her, but this pregnancy thing was making her feel so different, so much more...emotional.
As she sat at the kitchen with her muesli and pieces of peach from the can, a dollop of yoghurt on top for her snack, munching away gustily. She looked up though as Jesse walked into the room, nodding to him as she took another mouthful, chewing before replying, "Jes." The young woman watched him walk around the kitchen to the pantry, pulling out a pack of chips as her eyes were drawn to his hands, and the black mark on them. She just stared at it, and stared and stared. She knew what that was...oh god, she had been right. Jesse Warrick had been hiding it all along, he'd been keeping it a secret from her, the auror.
She felt tears spring to her eyes, making her stand up as the old wooden chair fell to the floor with a clatter. "You...you're one of them," she whispered, looking to him with glassy eyes. God what was wrong with her, she should be trying to arrest him damnnit, not cry! "You lied to me," she accused, her voice barely above a breath as she could only look to him with nothing but hurt. She didn't know why she was like this, but goddamn she hated it. She hated being weak like this, and it was always, always only before Jesse Warrick.

Jesse obviously didn't manage to hide the mark as he saw Scarlett see it straight away. His eyes shut and he let out a defeated sigh. He knew this was going to cause something. He couldn't be bothered with the drama, especially after what happened. He wanted nothing more than to just go to bed and lie down holding Scarlett. Now he wasn't sure she'd let him do that ever again. He couldn't believe he'd forgotten to hide it, after so long. He saw tears well up in her eyes and he sagged, he hated it when she cried.
He held up his arms as she stated the obvious. He was surprised at that. She had been with him for months and instead of asking if he just got, she immediately jumped to the conclusion he'd been hiding it the whole time. Of course he had been but she didn't know that, not yet. Her chair fell with a loud smack and he made no movement in response. He just looked at her sadly, knowing this was going to end u a fight, one he really didn't want to have. He held up a hand at her next accusation.
"I never lied. You never asked." He said which was true. He had never said that he wasn't. He would have told her if she ever asked but she never did which obviously meant she had never wanted to know bad enough. "It doesn't change anything Scar, it won't affect us." He stated which was true. It wouldn't affect them.

She could see that he was bothered, he sighed and his shoulder's sagged and she didn't know what to think of the man before him. She didn't want to admit it, she didn't but she didn't actually care what he was doing, what he believed in, even if he was the bad guy. He was probably working along side her father, he probably knew him...oh god, what if this was all just a trick, what if her father was out to get her, Lord knows she had told him that she'd kill him as a child when he had dropped by once to see her mother just to make snide and crude comments about her being his bitch. It had been terrible...and here Jesse Warrick was probably conspiring with the vile man.
"Is this all a lie, some...some trick to fool me?" Scarlett whispered out, stepping back, "do you think because I'm an auror you could use me? Get information or some shit? I-I won't tell you anything if that's what you're after..." She swallowed, trying to compose herself. His words rang out into the as she could only look at him, her father's face flashing behind her eyes. "Are you working with my father, is this just all one big fat joke to you all? You death eaters think it's funny to knock up woman and then use it to your expense? Lord knows you people have done it before."
The tears in her eyes wouldn't stop though, she felt so ashamed that she had been tricked, that she'd been stupid enough to fall for the man before her. "Doesn't affect us, what is us Jesse? Has anything ever been true between us? Has this all just been a lie?" Scarlett felt her words catch in her throat as she looked at him, involuntarily the words slipped out, she coudln't help it but her emotions were in array and it just... "I love you Jes and you...you do this? What am I supposed to believe anymore? Do you even want this baby? Do you even want m-me?"

Jesse stared at Scarlett with wide eyes in shock. A trick to fool her? Now he knew the pregnancy was getting to her head. He wouldn't put this much effort into some trick. He wouldn't get someone pregnant and spend all his time with them for some trick. He wasn't that dedicated and he didn't hate anyone enough to do that. She continued on the crazy train as she jumped to conclusions about her being an auror and him being a death eater. Honestly he thought she'd known and just not said anything because she had definitely been suspicious before their relationship, or whatever it was, started.
Then of course she said the stupidest thing of all and he actually felt hurt and anger at the accusation. How dare she even think he would work with that man. He knew what he'd done to her. If he could kill the man he would. He felt his eyes narrow at his words. He was usually good at keeping his patience with the pregnant woman but this was ridiculous. He couldn't believe she'd think that of him after all this time. Of course he had just come back from killing someone but that hadn't been on purpose. He couldn't help that he had a dark side but he had thought she'd known.
"Don't you dare compare me to him." He said between gritted teeth as he tried to keep his temper.
She then went back to fretting about them, asking again if it was a lie. He rolled his eyes. She should know it wasn't. He'd been a death eater before he met her, this wasn't a lie. He wouldn't lie about something like this. He tried to rationalise what she was saying in his mind but it was getting difficult. She obviously didn't think very highly of him if suddenly she was throwing all this insults and accusations in his face. Of course that was until she uttered those words.
He was frozen as he stared at her, his mouth slack and his eyes wide. She had said the words. Those three words. He had no idea what to do. He just continued to look at her, letting her finish her rant. She was still in doubt and still muttering stupid, pointless questions that he wasn't even focused on. Instead he just watched her lips and thinking about the words which had just slipped past them.
"What did you say?" He asked in a quiet whisper.

Scarlett reeled back at Jesse's words, realizing what she had said and she felt bad instantly. She knew it was harsh of her to compare him to her father; she had told him about what that man had done to her mother, and how her mother in turn had made her life a living hell of Christianity and hate. Scarlett knew Jesse wasn't like that, she knew it but she couldn't help but still feel like she had been lied to. Sure, she had never asked but could she really have just brought it up casually? She was an auror for christ sake, she was supposed to arrest Death Eaters, not house them in your home.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to-..." Scarlett went to apologise but she quickly bit her lip, she shouldn't be apologising! Why did the damn hormones make her want to please every fucking person! This wasn't Scarlett, this wasn't her! If this was the old her she'd be sending spells at the man and fly kicking him over the table before detaining him and carting his arse off to Azkaban. She still would if it was anyone but Jesse Warrick. Damn her and her emotions, and those feelings she had for the man which made her heart swell and clench with the sadness and pain of betrayal.
At his shock and whispered words she froze herself, thinking of what she had just said. Oh god...she'd said it. What was wrong with her!?
"I-...Nothing," she corrected, casting her gaze away as her hands come to rest upon her stomach, biting her lower lip in nervousness. Oh god what had she done, she was an idiot, a bit fat fucking idiot for even admitting that aloud. She had only kept that in her heart for the past few months, and now she had to go and say it heat of the moment. Great, the man was gong to leave her now, and her child would be an orphan. Scarlett didn't want that, she didn't want her baby to grow up without both parents, that was too cruel a thing to do to a child.
Scarlett steeled herself, ready to play oblivious to her emotions to try and get Jesse Warrick to stay, as he had promised to when they had first found out about the baby. Their relationship had never been out of emotion, just pure basic human needs of lust and comfort, that was all it had been, and she was sure that would never change either. "Just forget it, really. It was...nothing."
