If someone walked by one would stop and look twice, disbelievingly. Because there was Finn Tyler and he was studying. Like really studying, not just cross reading the book but studying with a pile of books, quills and parchment surrounding him, for what felt like the first time in his life. The upcoming N.E.W.T.s and his friend's constant nagging had finally worn him down. To keep peace with his friend Finn had agreed to study but far away from his friend or Finn had the feeling they might have one or the other disagreement about Finn's studying methods. That was the reason why Finn now sat in the clock tower, leaving his friend his home domain.
For a long time the scratching of a quill and the rustling of parchment was the only sound that filled the tower until Finn heard footsteps. Not long after did he see his beautiful girlfriend approaching. "Thank Merlin, Sydney, save me!" he called dramatically and gestured at the mess around him.
"You met Cain in the library I guess?" he asked, wondering how she'd found him in his self-induced exile to come and provide the much needed distraction. Surely his friend had sent her here after she'd asked him. If she disapproved of the idea of a break they could of course study together, but Finn thought he'd worked hard and long enough to deserve at least a small kiss.

Sydney needed to talk to Finn about a lot of things, but mostly she just wanted to see him and hold him and kiss him and all of that good stuff. They had been somewhat distracted, as of late, what with NEWTs coming up and all of that, though Sydney felt she significantly cared less than he did. She still didn't know what she was doing with her life, but she was aiming toward something outside of the magical world. Still, he father would have killed her if she didn't at least try to do well on her exams. But there was only so much reading and practicing a person could take before their head exploded. So she had gone to the library to find Finn and had been disappointed only to see Cain. Once again.
But he had been a nice boy this time and he had told her where she might find her beloved. She made her way up the steps and glanced at him briefly just before he noticed her. He was so cute there, surrounded by books and parchment that she wished she could take a picture. As it was, he had already seen her and had called out dramatically for her to save him. She giggled and stepped through the books and sat directly in his lap. Of course she would save him. And maybe in so doing, she would distract him beyond reason and he would be begging her to leave within minutes, but at least she would take as much time as she could to give him a good cuddle. She placed a hand on his cheek and leaned in, giving him a soft, yet insistent kiss. She pulled away with a smile.
"There, does that help? You're working too hard, come play with me."

Finn's face lit up when Sydney came over to him, stepping carefully through the mess he'd created in a half circle around himself until she reached him and unceremoniously sat on his lap. Immediately his hands went to her hips, making sure she stayed where she was and kissed her back, deepening the kiss at once. Obviously she wasn't against a studying break. He smirked at her as she confirmed this and suggested to play. "That was a close shave, almost drowned in all this ink and parchment. But where do you want to go to play? I don't think we'll make it too far," he warned Sydney chuckling while a hand found its way under her school skirt, stroking with his thumb over her thigh.
"What have you done all day long without me? You must've been thoroughly bored," he mumbled against the skin of her neck before kissing her there. Sometimes, scratch that, most of the time he couldn't believe his luck when he was with Sydney. Of course she distracted him from studying now, but it wouldn't make the difference between pass and fail, it would probably only keep him from achieving top marks. He was positive he'd still at least get Es in the majority of his subjects, except for potions. He did plan for an O in potions and would be disappointed if he would fail to reach that. So it was fine for Sydney to keep him from studying more today. It was more than fine actually. Playfully he licked her lips to coax her into parting them for him. Not that she needed the encouragement, he knew that. Still he liked doing it.

Sometimes Syndey wondered if Finn remembered that they were on school grounds and anyone could walk up on them at any moment and witness their PDA, but then she remembered she didn't care and she probably would have made love to him right here if he let her. His hand moving under her skirt sent a thrill through her and she thought she might cry out at any moment and beg him to have his way with her. But she maintained control and only kept it at a whimper of longing for him as he stroked her thigh.
He kissed her neck and she closed her eyes, holding her head back and relishing the feel of his lips against her skin. She knew they couldn't go much further than this at the moment, but for now it would be enough. She kept her own hands on his abs, slowly moving them down to his hips and resting at the waistband of his trousers. They were still innocent for now, but it wouldn't take much to convince her to be otherwise. Then she remembered that he had asked her a question. "Hmm? Oh...absolutely nothing. I was very bored, you're right. I think I tried to study, but we both know how that goes. I was mostly just looking for you and messing with Cain when I couldn't find you."
Sydney became distracted when he licked her lips and she opened them willingly for him, deepening the kiss immediately and running her fingers through his hair. She moved to a straddling position, just to bring in that hint of naughtiness, though she was careful not to push it too far.

Finn thoroughly enjoyed Sydney's reactions his touch induced. Things always got heated pretty quickly between them and Finn wondered how he could've kept his hands off her for all those years. His kisses against her neck increased in intensity when her hands wandered down his stomach and he hummed against her skin, not sure if in warning or in enjoyment.
A deeper sound, definitely in enjoyment this time, escaped him as she put a leg on each side of his. He left a trail of kisses from her lips along her jaw down to her neck before he decided he had to distract himself. He didn't want to take things too far right now even if it was tempting, or rather she was. "You just have to say the words. You know I'd study with you," Finn finally commented when he remembered her words. "But messing with Cain, have you? What did you do to the poor boy? I hope you haven't distracted him like you're distracting me now," he joked and playfully pinched her thigh, because he wasn't really worried. He wasn't worried at all, much less about anything with Cain, if that was even possible.
After a moment he placed his forehead on her shoulder, breathing in her scent. He really had to take a short break before things got out of hand. "Missed you, beautiful," he said lovingly and nuzzled his nose against her soft skin before he kissed the spot.

It was almost painful when Finn stopped his kisses, but she had to admit that she had been seconds away from removing her top and not caring where they went from there. She had so much desire for him that it was as if someone had lit a fire beneath her, but she also loved him on a deeper level than her lust for him. She didn't want to ruin what they had together just by pushing too far. So she understood why he stopped that sensuous trail of kisses, though she still pouted about it.
Sydney laughed when Finn even suggested that she distract Cain the way she was distracting him. Cain held absolutely zero interest for her, even when she was single. And now that she had Finn, no one else could even hold a candle to her boyfriend. And he knew that too, he was just trying to tease her. She leaned in and gave him one sweet kiss on the lips before he pinched her thigh and she yelped in response, playfully pushing his shoulder. "You stop being a brat and maybe I will keep distracting you this way."
She smiled, but she didn't continue her kisses. He rested his shoulder against her and she closed her eyes, using her fingernails to softly massage through his hair as they sat her entwined with one another. He said that he missed her and she breathed him in, not wanting anything else at the moment other than him. "Finn...what are we going to do after we graduate this summer? I mean, I've heard about your trip with the guys in the abstract, but...I don't really know your plans. I was wondering if maybe you had thought about...living arrangements...you know, like...flatmates?"
She pressed her lips together anxiously and sat back just enough to look at his face. She wanted to live with him so badly, but she wasn't sure it was the right time yet. She wanted to get an answer from him, any indication that he thought it was a good idea to move in with her.

Finn laughed as Sydney said she would keep herself from him if he didn't stop being a brat. He liked teasing her now and then, he just couldn't help it. And she'd started this one, saying that she'd been messing with Cain. "This isn't a one-sided thing, you know," he teased her further. "I know you would hate it just as much should I keep you from distracting me as I would dislike letting you go." And he really meant this, but still he moved his free hand along her side, trying to find that place where she was ticklish, carefully keeping it on the fun side. Maybe they could sneak away somewhere for more intimate touches after dinner, but not now, not here in that drafty tower where anyone could walk in on them. No, he didn't want that for her and that wasn't who he was either.
With closed eyes Finn listened to Sydney speak. He was just about to explain the summer trip with the guys when she went on, talking about living arrangements. "Nope," he said without thinking and then stopped for a moment to contemplate what she'd said. "I mean, I haven't really thought about it. You know me. I guess I'd just stayed with Dylan, waiting for him to get fed up with me and throw me out. But I have you, so..." He took his time to think again. It was true, without Sydney reminding him of such things he wouldn't give them any thought yet. It was still so much time until graduation in his mind. And was it so wrong to stay with Dylan at first? Maybe he wouldn't like it at the Ministry and decide to go abroad for some time, what should he do with a living of his own then. Only thinking about it now, that was very unlikely as it would include parting from Sydney, which wasn't really an option.
"I don't know really. But what are your plans? Besides, I was going to ask you about this trip in the summer. It's not a 'trip with the guys'. Do you want to come, too? I wanted to ask Freya as well. The French coast is beautiful." A smile appeared over his lips as he thought about what he wanted to say next. It wasn't something he usually said, as it was just far too cheesy, but he didn't care right now. "It has nothing on you, of course, so do you want to come? We're camping on the beach." He caressed her cheek with his fingertips before he kissed her again. If she should agree, he'd be even more excited for that trip. He wanted to show her all the places he'd come to know on his various surfing trips there and he was sure he would love it just as much. Maybe they could even stay there longer than the others, adding a few days of private vacation... He smiled to himself as he let his mind wander for a moment before he snapped back to reality.
"I did tell you that I plan on joining the Ministry, right?"

He was exactly right, she would hate it if he made her stop distracting him. They had such great chemistry together, neither one of them was very good at making the physical love stop between the two of them. But she knew he was trying to keep it innocent and playful, so she would do the same. The little punk was trying to find her ticklish spot, and she could not allow that. She smiled and twisted her body around so that he couldn't find it. He was sneaky, but she was sneakier.
When he first replied with a no about whether he'd thought about flatmates, she couldn't help but be a little sad that he hadn't even contemplated whether he wanted to live with her or not. She began to wonder if he realized that graduation was just a few short months away. But then he explained that he just hadn't thought about it, which did sound very much like her laid-back carefree boyfriend. She did think it was strange that he automatically thought of living with his brother, when his brother had so recently gotten into a very serious relationship of his own and he might not have wanted to live with his little brother right now. As Sydney understood it, Dylan's girlfriend was practically living there already, so Finn being there might have been weird.
But her face brightened immediately when he invited her to go along on the trip this summer. She was not going to invite herself, because she thought his friendship with the bros was important, but she had been wanting to go so badly. And with Freya there, they could have loads of girl fun on top of it! Maybe they could find some topless beaches and drive the boys crazy with their antics. She smiled and clapped her hands. But when he said the beauty of the French coast had nothing on her, she was giddy. He was just the sweetest guy in the world! She nodded emphatically, "Yes! Yes please, I would love to! Oh God, Finn, the beach? France? You and me getting gorgeously tanned and sneaking away to make love somewhere on our own? It sounds beautiful."
He mentioned that he was going to join the ministry and she nodded, then leaned forward to kiss him again. "Yes, and I think that sounds perfect. After the trip, I think that maybe I will move in with Freya while I look for a job. Unless...YOU...would like to live with me," she mentioned as casually as possible, though her stomach tied itself in knots thinking about what he would respond with.

Finn chuckled as Sydney enthusiastically nodded her approval to the France trip immediately. He thought she was cute when she was giddy. "I knew you'd love the idea," he said and laughed as her imagination drifted the way his had. "I want to show you all the beautiful places there.... and I'll make you stand on a board," he warned her. He'd like it very much if she'd at least try his hobby once too. He could bring one of his old boards for her probably, from when he wasn't as tall and heavy as he was now. "And we can watch the sun drown in the ocean and have dinner at the beach... or retreat in the small wood which is near by."
"I wanted to accompany Dylan to work once and take a look at the different departments. If you want you can come too, maybe something catches your fancy," he offered, then thought for a second about her not so subtle hint. He smiled at her. "I wouldn't want Freya to have something I want to have instead. She's my sister after all and I'm very jealous of her as it is. Of course I'd like to live with you! But why didn't you just say that's what you want? Instead you make me rack my brain about living arrangements. You're some tease, you know that?" With his hands on her hips he pulled her closer again. Of course he wanted to live with her. He would've wanted that even if they'd stayed 'just friends', but now he wanted it even more. "How long is it until graduation again?" he asked deep in thought and a bit confused as if he tried to remember what day of the week it was. If that was what she wanted, he would actually plan this, make this good for her.

Sydney was surprised when he said that he wanted to get her up on a board. She made zero promises when it came to surfing, but she had a feeling it would not turn out well. She was bad at flying on a broom, she would have bet money that she would not have been able to surf worth a damn. But she was willing to try it, especially if it meant Finn shirtless, his hands on her bare waist in her bikini, and them getting all wet and playful together. The thought alone made her blush and smile in anticipation.
“It will all be perfectly lovely,” she replied. “I will probably make a fool out of myself on the board, but I will try it for you, my love."
But she laughed and shook her head when he mentioned that she could try to find a place at the ministry. She had no desire to work there, or at any other major hub for the wizarding world. It seemed so stuffy to her, but then she did not have the patient temperament that Finn had, and she could get bored so easily. She also didn’t have the mood or fit for a physical job like that of an auror. No, she would have to find her calling in life elsewhere. “That’s alright, baby. You go with your brother, I’d rather laze around.”
She smiled widely when he said that she should have told him she wanted to live with him. Yeah, she probably should have, but she also thought maybe he would want to ask. Hopefully it wouldn’t be like this when he wanted to marry her, though she also wouldn’t mind having to tell him that part too, as long as he said yes for that as well, when the time came. “I didn’t say anything because I was worried you wouldn’t want to...it is a big step, you know. We’ll do couple things and learn more about each other than we ever thought possible. I don’t have any siblings, you know. Living with a boy will be so strange. Good strange...but strange.”
He pulled her closer and she couldn’t resist sneaking in a few kisses. She rolled her eyes when he asked about graduation. Didn’t he know by now to pay more attention?
“It’s the second week of June, silly. And we could be ready to move in by July, don’t you think? Or should we give our parents more time?”

"I'll see to it that you'll be perfectly fine, beautiful," Finn assured Sydney when she said she'd make a fool of herself on a board and traced her blushing cheeks with his fingers. Finn knew that it was difficult to surf in the beginning but he'd already warned Almir that he'd have to try it too and if there were others who tried it for the first time as well, nobody would make a fool out of himself more than the others. In Finn's imagination it would just be all great fun.
He smiled at her when she declined his offer of coming to the Ministry with him. "But you could still come with me to London and we could make a trip through Diagon Alley afterwards, maybe have ice cream at Fortescue's. What do you think? I'm sure, staying at the Ministry the whole day will be far too boring for me." He didn't know what Sydney would want to do after graduation and it seemed she didn't either, but then he didn't even know it for himself. Finn was sure everything would play out fine. He wasn't too worried.
When Sydney glowed at his reply to her hint about living arrangements he could only smile in return. He loved it when he saw her happy. "Of course I want to, beautiful. How could you be worried about... I mean... I want to do everything with you. And I'm sure we'll manage that just as we've managed everything else until now." She was worrying too much again, Finn was sure. He didn't think it would be such a big step, moving in together. Things were working well right now and why should that change when they saw each other more often, and didn't need to sneak away somewhere to be close to each other. Trying to persuade her he kissed her forehead, his lips lingering against her skin for a bit. "I'm sure it won't change anything."
Finn stuck his tongue out at Sydney when she called him silly for now knowing at the moment when graduation was, but didn't comment. "I'd rather say we should give Freya a bit more time. I don't think my parents would have much of a problem with it if we should decide to move out right away. What about your dad? I'd be happy to move out as soon as we find something." If Finn knew his sister at all nowadays she would need some time to get her head around this concept, but he was sure she'd get used to the idea soon enough. And Finn needed someone to remind him to think of the more unpleasant things in life. What would he do without Sydney? He was a bit shocked that he hadn't thought about this sooner. "Where would you want to live?" he asked as his brain had come to the point of actually imagining this.

Sydney smiled when Finn assured her that she would be alright. Even his fingers showed how sweet he was, but she lived in a little place called reality, and she knew that she would be face-planting in the waves more than a few times. But she didn’t comment, he would still be sweet about her and act like everything would be perfect. His optimism was contagious, and he got her believing that perhaps things would be alright after all. And if she did get hurt, he would be there to kiss it all better.
She brightened at the idea of ice cream in Diagon Alley. And a trip to the ministry would be fun, if she got to spend it relaxing in the atrium or something and not having to worry about whether she would have to work there. She traced her finger over his hand nodded. “You said the magic words. With ice cream there, you’ve got a date. We can give Dylan the slip and spend the whole day acting like kids and eating far too many sweets and getting fat.”
He was still being far too optimistic about the co-habitation idea. Or maybe he just wasn’t being realistic, or she was worry-prone as usual, but there were things she just wasn’t sure of. What about when she was on her period? Would he care? They had been having sex so often recently, that it had been luck that it hadn’t been an issue. But would it be? Or what about when they became comfortable with each other and he started peeing in front of her? Or worse? And she could never pee in front of him, no. He had to go on believing that she was all roses and rainbows. She blushed further at the idea of all this closeness and thought maybe it was a better idea to live with Freya first after all. But his kiss against her forehead forced her to stop worrying so much and she listened to him continue.
“My dad won’t really care now that we’re graduation, though I’d like some time with him as well, especially with us going on a trip this summer. He tries to act like he’s okay with everything, but he’s been single for so long and he’s only had me…I guess we’ll just play it by ear, yeah? We can hang out all the time and wait until Freya and Dad are ready for the change.”
She turned so that her side was curled up against his chest and she rested her head against his shoulder. “I don’t care where we live, though. Not too close to anyone, but not too far either. We should probably get a place close to the Ministry, depending on whether you end up there or not. Right?”

“Now that sounds different somehow, calling it a date. Will you dress up for the occasion, then?” he asked smirking as she agreed to the trip when he included ice cream into the plan. He was sure they would have a great day, even more if he got to know a few people from a department he could imagine working in.
Finn listened carefully as Sydney explained how things were with her father. Well, he wouldn’t want to make her father sad by taking his daughter away from him of course, but there wasn’t anything for it really. “We don’t need to hurry anything. Let’s see what options we have and tell your father before we decide. I’m sure you can stay with him a bit longer in the summer. Maybe avoid the chaos of moving into a new place that way.” He smiled at her reassuringly. Perhaps they should sleep over this again. It was far too soon to make any decisions now or even rack their heads about it. Maybe things would look different in the morning already. Even though Finn was sure his decision was unwavering.
When Sydney curled up against him he put his arms around her to make it more comfortable for her and leaned his head against hers. “I’m sure we could see if we find something in Muggle London perhaps. I could imagine it to be not as stuffed as magical London, as the Muggles have a bit more space without needing to hide. What do you think? Or not in the town at all? It doesn’t have to be close to the Ministry. I can still aparate.” Finn craned his neck a bit and stretched it. The day of studying had been really long, he noticed now and sitting on the floor all day instead of at a desk hadn’t been the best idea for his neck. But he noticed it only now – a bit too late. He leaned his head against the wall behind him and closed his eyes. “This talk really is tiring. What time is it? Time for bed yet? You should keep me from studying more often. You’re supposed to take care of me,” he whined teasingly without opening his eyes. He really shouldn’t listen to Cain so often. It was obvious where that got him. And he really shouldn’t neglect Sydney over this. Maybe they really should study together in the future, but then that wouldn’t do any good to either for their upcoming exams. He smiled blissfully to himself.

Sydney smiled at the thought of dressing up for their little “date” to the Ministry. He had no idea what she could concoct in her little mind about what to wear, including underclothing. He would just have to wait to find out, and she only smiled mysteriously in response. But when he said that they could wait some to move in together until they were more ready, or rather her father was more ready, she got this pit of disappointment in her stomach. That wasn’t what she wanted. Of course she wanted her dad to be happy and comfortable about the situation, but she also wanted to start her life with Finn as soon as possible. Even the next few months of waiting would be torture.
“Let’s wait and see what happens. I don’t want to plan on waiting if it isn’t a problem. Who knows, maybe he could get a girlfriend or something and they could shack up together too?”
She smiled and rubbed noses with him as his head was now so close to hers. “And yes, I think that’s great. I don’t care where we live if we’re together.”
When he leaned his head back against the wall, Sydney went from curled up against him to straddling him again and reached up to massage his temples and run her fingernails in ghostly lines down his face and neck and back again, then leaned forward and blinked her eyelashes against his cheek in what she had always referred to as a “butterfly kiss”. Then she whispered in his ear.
“So let’s put your books and notes away so I can take you somewhere and properly take care of you.”

"Now is that a yes or no?" Finn asked pouting as Sydney didn't respond again to the date idea but only smiled. Most times he understood her just fine, but then there were moments like these when he couldn't really make sense of her reactions. It wasn't really important if she would dress up for it, but he rather wanted to know if he'd said something wrong which might have caused the non-verbal reply.
Finn smiled as Sydney suggested waiting as a solution to the whole moving in stuff. He could do that. "Yeah, let's wait and see. I like that. I'm sure it will work out either way in the end, but we can't foresee all problems now anyway."
When Sydney put her hands to his skin Finn felt himself relax instantly. He actually purred when she ran her fingers down his face and neck because he liked the feeling very much right now. If she continued this he could sit there for days and weeks on end. Only when she whispered in his ear the purring sound from somewhere in his chest turned to a soft moan. "Uhm, Sydney, that mouth of yours..." he mumbled while following her train of thought. Really though, she could choose her words so well sometimes that all coherent thought fled from him. He could still think straight now, but she had persuaded him in an instant. So he lifted her off him and stood before helping her up too and pulling her to him for another rather passionate kiss before he planned on gathering his things.
